Games in Gaellic Park (initially).

Good stuff. Didn't know they were putting this together. I hope it does well.

MLR - nice derivative name.
I'm glad one other person is interested. It always surprises me that there's not more crossover between American soccer and Rugby fans.

I'm definitely interested but there's a few things. One is that it's $30 for a ticket. I'm hoping that's just for this game because it's also an NYPD/FDNY benefit game as well. The other thing is that it's a billion miles away, all the way at the end of the 1 train. That's OK for a Saturday afternoon on a nice weather weekend but really far for a Sunday night, say.

Definitely interested though.

As a former rugger, I’d love to go but this is just so logistically painful it’s not ever going to be worth the effort. Unfortunate.

Well, I wouldn't say I am interested. I just found it interesting. In large part because a neighbor of mine is big into the rugby community (he travels to a lot of tournaments as an official, for example).

He started a big group to play rugby on Sunday mornings at the fields behind our houses. He tried to get me to join for years, but I have instead joined a group that plays soccer at the same time on the field next door.

So, on Sunday mornings, you have soccer on one field and rugby on the other, and American football is nowhere (and nowhere all weekend, every week of the year in terms of pickup games). I often wonder what the rich guy who lives 200 yards up the hill thinks of all this. His name is Roger Goodell.

I would definitely probably try this out, but not for $30.

Play their first regular season game Sunday away in San Diego looks like it's on ESPN plus and SNY at 5 pm. Home games will be at MCU Park in Brooklyn.

Yeah I watched on SNY -- very enjoyable. Will definitely make every effort to get out to Coney Island for a game.

I have absolutely no idea what the rules are or why certain things are penalties, but I'll have to try to learn if I want to keep watching.

There are SOME basics in common with American football. I don't understand every single rule but enough to follow and enjoy it. My best friend lives in Brooklyn so I think we'll try to make it out to a match this year as well. He's sadly a pink cows supporter so it'll be nice to go to a game and actually root for the same team for a change.

I more or less understand the game as I watch it occasionally and also my daughter played in college. The only problem I have is that it'll all be going along and then every now and then someone will inexplicably kick the ball and I'll have no idea why. But otherwise, sure, totally understand it. Yeah.

Won 27-24 Saturday in New Orleans for a 2-0 start to life. I really like their kit which is navy with some orange on the sleeves and trim, Orange numbers, and orange and blue hooped socks. Definitely want to make it to a match especially since I've never been to Coney Island hopefully make a day of it.

For those interested in learning and watching a bit more NBCSN has the rights to the Six Nations a tournament betweeen ENG, FRA, ITA, IRE, SCO, & Wal. They brodcast with tape delay and this weekend should be great. Saturrday 12:30 is France v Scotland and at 2:30 Wales v England in what could decide the tournament.

I'm glad there are at least a couple other people here interested . I don't understand every single rule (don't always know why a penalty is a penalty) or the definition of every position but there is enough of both American football and soccer football I am rather comfortable watching it.

Six nations is great. I watched an England match in a pub last time I was in The UK (Forget who they were playing) also once watched England-France in a Irish pub in Spain , great atmosphere both times.

BUMP:

Suffered their first loss last night 33-21 in Seattle. It was probably a better match than the score suggests a couple errors cost New York dear has Seattle pinned back but couldn't score and turned it over for essentially a 14 point swing.
