The MLS had a petition in Queens maybe a few months to a year before the NYC FC announcement so if you live in Queens you might remember signing or ignoring this petition. We should try and get something like this going IF things don't start moving. Just an option for now I have faith the stadium will be built just not somewhere desired unless you live in the area.

The problem is most NYC residents do NOT want a stadium built in the city. So to be fair, the politicians are actually fairly representing the constituents on this issue.

My nightmare is we can't get a NYC stadium together and end up sharing with RBNY.

It doesn't matter how many palms have to be greased, they'll get this done. It will probably take awhile though. Should be interesting. I can't wait for continued news though.

Getting a stadium built outside NYC is simply not even considered by CFG.. But yeah it might get nixed politically but somehow I got the feeling that it´s all about making it look "progressive" enough.
Slowly slowly we are gaining momentum..

The Yankees and City have enough money combined to get things done regardless of what the politicians think

Judging by recent articles at least DeBlasio actually seems to be a sports fan. Granted its hardly likely to change his policy but at least he does not seem to despise sports and everything about them. Did see a MLS article on DC suggesting that those opposed to stadium may have softened their stance. On an unrelated note UFC still haven't gained access to promote in New York state. Maybe if Abu Dhabi owned a bigger stake that would have sped up the political process.

it will get done. I recall seeing an article on the MLS website a month back or so saying they only plan to be in their temporary stadium for a year or two. Don't forget with MCFC and the Yankees that = $$$$$$$$$$ and with that anything can get done in NYC. Once they seal the deal I expect they will build pretty quickly. Hell, they built yankee stadium in like 9 months or something like that I think.

The British press is reporting that City think they could be in Yankee Stadium for up to 4 years, but like you I also hope for work to progress rapidly when an agreement is finally reached.

By British press he means journalist/reporters. It's a general term.
Hopefully we can get a stadium quick. The baseball parks are just not designed for football games. Fans no where near the game.

Actually it may have been American sources I read.

Anyway, I'm kind of hoping they'll go for the temporary stadium option while they work on a permanent one.

I don't think they'd ever allow that. That's like the Yankees playing home games at Fenway or Citi Field. If anything they'd play at MetLife
Actually, the Yankees did play their home games at Shea Stadium for two seasons in the mid-70s while they did major renovations on Yankee Stadium. As a Mets fan it was kind of odd, but it was also kind of cool at the same time.

Willets Point in Queens should be reevaluated. The junk yards will be replaced with Condos and shops. It's close to the airports. Highways, busses, trains and LiRR and Flushing Meadows Park has land not in use. Every weekend I drive by there you'll see small 5 vs 5 games in every area of the park. The Bronx has a senator pushing for it knowing the income it will bring. They just spent millions on remodeling the Bronx armory into a "world class" ice skating rink and last I read is he proposed it as a possible site smh.

im from the area around willets point. to be honest, a field there woud be kinda bad. it would put all of those mechanics out of work and increase already bad traffic on that highway (fo4rgot the name). having an airport near by would be bad because now people would arrive, stay for the game and then leave in the same day. where as in the bronx, the peple would arrive, go to the game and have a layover day to spend all their money. its a game about money essentially
