2015 Mls Season Attendance Thread

Im guessing 4th July helped the numbers a bit but the team that stands out the most for me is RSL. For a smallish community they really have great attendance.

LA should be pulling NYCFC type of numbers.

Columbus is a bit of a worry. Even with a great rebrand they still struggle at the gate somewhat.

Are they really calling that the Rocky Mountain Derby? They're 371 friggin' miles apart! Or if you drive it's over 500 miles because there isn't any direct road between the two cities. That's like saying New York and Cleveland should be called a derby. Here's a couple of map circle links showing the same distance as between Denver and Salt Lake City:

New York

London

I hope you made that up that derby. Seriously. Back in a minute, I have to go buy my London vs. Edinburgh derby tickets.

The concept of "nearby" means something very different in the Mountain Time Zone than it does here.

I used derby (pronounced dar-by) as I'm English. I think it's called the Rocky Mountain Cup.

By the way, all 92 English and Welsh professional clubs (and 5,300 non-League clubs) are in an area the size of New York and New Jersey.

The longest distance between English stadia (excluding Berwick, who play in the Scottish Leagues) is 408 miles, about a 6 hour drive.

So when the Red Bulls hail Abby Wambach from Rochester NY as a local hero, you have to laugh.

Abby Wambach from Rochester NY
From New York City to Rochester (driving) is 375 miles, all without leaving New York State. And you could go another 75 miles to Buffalo and *still* not leave the state. So yeah, Abby, hey, she's local, cool!

Someone from California wouldn't be local to New York though. But you could get from London to halfway across Saudi Arabia (but not quite to Etihad HQ) in the same amount of driving as from New York to San Diego.

Sorry, I'll stop now. Bit of a geography geek.

They'd have to leave New Jersey. I think Harrison is closer to some cities in VA than Rochester.:)

Yes, a great week. Drawing 28K at New England was key.

What the heck is wrong with Dallas? Only drawing 16K for a battle between the two conference leaders. Lame!

Real Monarchs, who are playing their first season at Rio Tinto Park, average about 2,500 a game and have plans to build their own stadium. It will be interesting to see how they develop.

Another 16k crowd.

The Stadium situation hurts them. Being so far from dallas cant be ideal, although people are saying Frisco is a fast growing area.

Chicago's location can't help. 14,159 represents 86% of the population of the village they play in.

The good news is that you look at a crowd of under 18,000 and think it's crap, yet just 6 years ago the average for the full MLS season barely broke 16,000.

There have also been about 70 sellouts excluding NYC and Orlando.
