I'm saying I think mgarbowski isn't off track here. We can have names, popular players, play the ASG and still succeed.
But! The point is more towards the engagement comment he had. Thats why I said fans, not supporters.
I've been thinking about this some more after writing what was an admittedly spur of the moment thought-post. I also don't care much whether our players win Goal of the Week, get voted on the ASG, or win awards such as MVP (which isn't a fan vote but the point is I don't care about awards generally). Meanwhile we have decent attendance, a core group of supporters who travel almost anywhere, and other signs of strong engagement. Yet I'm starting to think our lack of engagement in these types of votes and certain other participatory online stuff is related to other issues and has consequences. I'm still thinking it through and doubt I can come to clear provable conclusions but that doesn't mean I won't write it up when I'm finished noodling over it.I'd rather have an engaged fan base for sure. Agnostic on the fan votes tbh.
