I commend for your attention the following 6 minute excerpt from This American Life, in which host Ira Glass discusses with Shalom Auslander his decision to attend a NY Rangers playoff hockey game on the Sabbath, and the sacrifices that entailed. My reasons are I can't attend saturday games
mid-sunday is best, like the 1-4pm games.

God And Hockey - This American Life
Ira talks with Shalom Auslander, who was raised as an Orthodox Jew and who made a pivotal break with his faith at a Rangers game.

ETA: the "pivotal break with faith" mentioned in the excerpt is not the point of the story to me (nor terribly accurate) - it's more about devotion to faith and devotion to team and what happens when those conflict.
