2020 Schedule Thread

So to get to 13, if you take away Miami and add the two indoor options you get:
  1. Atlanta (indoors)
  2. Montreal (potential indoor option)
  3. Minnesota (potential indoor option)
  4. Orlando
  5. LA Galaxy
  6. LA FC
  7. Houston
  8. San Jose
  9. Dallas
  10. Seattle
  11. Portland
  12. Vancouver
  13. Nashville
I don't know about the northwest sites in Feb. But if they are okay I would think Nashville as the coldest option isn't too bad.

The problem is that we don't know whether Montreal or Minnesota would switch to the indoor venue, much less do so two weeks in a row.

Montreal does use Stade Olympique from time to time when weather or crowd size requires; one example is hosting the CCL Final in 2015. Minnesota on the other hand has a problem with the Vikings, who have threatened to sue if Minnesota United plays any games in U.S. Bank Stadium (the infantile owner of the Vikings is upset that he was not awarded the MLS franchise).

My guess is that the teams in truly warm locations will host 2 games - in my mind, these would be the 8 warmest locations (excluding Miami), which runs down through Dallas in the rankings. This leaves 5 games each week. Those could be filled by having the next 9 teams, plus Montreal, host 1 game over the 2 weeks. That would take us down through Kansas City on the list (and would include NYCFC).

This still leaves the question of what to do the next 2 weekends (March 14 and March 21). It's not clear the warm weather sites will want to host 3-4 weeks in a row, but places like Minnesota, Chicago and Toronto are going to be too cold.

In the end, some cold weather games are going to be played. It's unavoidable.

The last three years we hosted our home opener on March 10, 2019, March 11, 2018, and March 12, 2017. So based on that we're likely to open with only 1 or 2 road games before they come back home for a likely home opener either the weekend of March 7 or 14.

You’re right, we should play February 29th every year! Screw the haters.
And mysteriously, the visitors’ locker room has the AC set to 50, and there’s great big misting fans situated behind their bench running on high.

Good move. Based on this known schedule so far, we need all the preseason competition we can get.

Preseason
January 15, Corinthians
January 18, Palmeiras

Regular Season
February 18-20, CCL First Round Leg 1
February 25-27, CCL First Round Leg 2
February 28-March 1, MLS Game 1 (?)
March 6-8, MLS Game 2 (?)

March 10-12, CCL Quarterfinals Leg 1
March 13-15, MLS Game 3 (?)
March 17-19, CCL Quarterfinals Leg 2

The density and travel is going to be brutal. I hope one or two of those first three MLS games are left as open dates or rescheduled.

Threads already up on the matchday page.

Will we have a coach and sporting director by this game?
