Of the 17 MLS Regular Season matches in 2021, how many will be played at Yankee Stadium?

Here's the interesting question: If J&J is not at 95% efficacy, but closer to, say, 70%, will people want that vaccine or will they be holding out for Pfizer/Moderna? I could see a situation where J&J isn't effective enough and people want to bide their time for Moderna/Pfizer.

you get the JNJ. And get the Pfizer in the fall

I've read speculation (from well-informed or highly qualified sources) that J&J will be more along the lines of a flu vaccine, providing less than 12 months immunity. Some believe Moderna will be effective for at least a couple years, if not longer.
Hopefully no new mutations emerge, but I guess the huge advantage with mRNA is that they can more rapidly modify and release new related shots to combat new strains.
But yeah, by the looks of it I think I'll get J&J probably in March, and Moderna in the fall or next year.

not surprising considering the platform is based on modification of the cold virus, i believe. moderna has already stated they are in the process of modifying their vaccine for the new variants. great news there.

Also. The whisper on JNJ is 90%. Will have 50 million doses by April. Game cha her

That would be incredible. I hope it's true. And that's interesting about getting one now and another one in the fall. Never even thought about that, but I guess it makes sense, especially if one of them has longer efficacy.

The MLSPA offer attempts to find a compromise with what MLS has proposed. In the MLSPA proposal, the terms of the CBA would be extended by one year. The union is asking for players 23 years of age and higher and with at least four years of service to qualify for free agency in 2025 and 2026. The previous free agency threshold was 24 years of age and 5 years of service.

The MLSPA is also offering reductions in the salary cap in every year from 2022-25, while also reducing the amount of revenue sharing in the next media rights deal to 12.5 percent for 2024. All told, the MLSPA said the total amount of concessions would be around $53 million.

Longer article and I advise to read the whole thing

Looks like a solid, reasonable offer (to the extent I'm capable of judging from the outside) from the Players. If we don't see a similar move by the owners in this direction that will be disappointing.

On the JNJ...

49 days after the shot, 100% success at preventing death and moderate to severe cases of COVID. Can still catch the virus, but you won't get sick and die. That's terrific. They are WAY behind their manufacturing targets. They thought they would have 10 million already. In reality, they have like 2 million. You probnably won't see mass vaccinations using JNJ until April. BUT you probably will get 100 million folks vaccinated in the next 100 days. The JNJ vaccine is a single shot. The further away from the shot, the better the protection.

I remember, back in September, watching a 60 Minutes feature where they said these companies were all creating millions of vaccines ready to roll as soon as they're approved. What the hell happened to that? How are there this few vaccines available. They've been working on these trials for months, and they were supposedly supposed to be producing them ahead of time.

Good news about the vaccine itself, though.

We're roughly six weeks out. The second week was Christmas week. Even with outstanding prep (which admittedly did not take place for the most part) it takes a while to get going on a nationwide and worldwide project. Last mile problems are notorious for being more difficult than people expect. And it's a big world.

More Than 87.1 Million Shots Given: Covid-19 Tracker
The U.S. has administered 27.3 million doses

It's frustrating, but we're not doing too bad.

Back in September, the reporting was that we would have 100 million doses available by the end of 2020. We're now not going to get to that point until at least April. I'm just wondering what happened to that. Was there a failure, or did they just lie? I assume they were just lying, but I'd like to know what happened there.

Regarding the lockout - wouldn't this somehow prove the players' point about this being a closed league and all that BS? Saw some talking head on Twitter said this would make every MLS player a free agent.

In fairness, that wasn’t reporting. That was a dolt saying that

i think i read that it depends on what the technical term the league uses if they do a lockout. the thing is i read that if the MLS still claims the contracts are valid ( since they will pay the 2021 salaries) then players can challenge and its expected that CAS and even FIFA may go favor the player. This is why many dont think the league is serious about the lockout and are bluffing.

I for one would be shocked if they did a lockout. Makes no sense for anyone. Why subject yourself to discovery and arbitration

With MLB proposing a 1 month delay but only an 8 game reduction, Yankee Stadium and Citi Field are likely to have very few dates available.

The players are almost certainly not going to agree to that. I put it at about 80% baseball does their regular schedule.

You can never tell with labor negotiations. At this point the negotiating logjams that lead to a work stoppage are impossible to differentiate from those that get resolved at the last minute (or slightly beyond last minute).

I have to wonder, is NYCFC betting on a work stoppage by moving so slowly on player acquisitions? We are apparently tied with expansion team Austin for fewest players on the senior roster (21).
