I mean they were a failed physical away from adding one two months ago, so I think that's just a turn of phrase that could have been more cleanly written.

Then they had almost 2 months to find someone else before the transfer window closed and they chose not to, so it seems appropriate to me. If the same had happened to LAFC or Miami and the success for the first 2/3rds of their season depended on it they would have figure it out.
