2027 Season Ticket Thread - Sprint Season!

If the winner gets a star it's going to be regarded as a normal title very soon for all but the most committed banterers. Especially since as Mark notes it will make the years line up.

IDK people still question the legitimacy of the Lakers title from the covid bubble 6 years later. It could depend on who wins and the feeling the rest of the MLS fanbase has about that team. Lakers fans are insufferable, I could think of a few similar MLS teams that would cause the "fake title" montra to stick around longer than others.

Edit: and given the general MLS fan sentiment about our ownership we are probably one of those teams.

I'm cancelling for the sprint season. Will look to come back when pricing for the new stadium comes out. Hopefully with a new rep mine sucks.

I don't care about the asterisk. Winning is better than not winning. I want to win it.

If NJ or PHI are going to win a title I'd rather it be the 2027 than a full season title. But I'd still rather see neither of them.

And as I said before, in my world, mo soccer is mo better. I would be very frustrated waiting from Nov/Dec all the way to Jul/Aug for more (local) soccer.

If they're playing games, I'm going to watch. The season is going to be one of variance and you can't take much out of a 14-game season where weird results are going to have outsized influence. If we win it I'll love it. If we lose I'll feel ambivalent.

I agree that in a short season there is more chance of unexpected outcomes, but why is that bad? Counting playoffs that gives a total of 18 matches.

World Cup - 7 total matches previously; 8 this year
Euros - 7 matches
Champion's League - 17 or 19 matches

For me the number of matches doesn't make it good or bad. In a lot of ways having fewer matches makes everything more exciting. There's way more value on every game.

I don't know. I'm looking forward to it.

It'll be fun, sure. But I don't think it's going to be something that we look back on in three seasons and consider a legitimate champion. Sure you'll have the star and the trophy, but it's not going to feel like a legitimate champion. Which is fine, I guess. It's half a season, it'll be fun, but don't ask me to think it matters the same as a full-length season. The league can't go away for 7 months so they're doing this to split the time. Makes sense, but I don't have to pretend it's a real season.
