They are talkign about the diskerud all night and party every day song.

And i agree cringe worthy, bordering on embarrassing.

Nah, it's not that bad rhythmically (it's a pretty bland song all in all, though). You're missing that there is an anacrusis in the NYC chant that isn't there in the knick-knack song - the first two syllables come before the first bar. In other words, the music is actually like this:

That makes sense. So maybe the problem is that most people just don't sing it correctly. It doesn't sound right in the video or when I heard it (briefly) yesterday
