Pirlo is going to have his best season so far for us because the quality of the players around him are so much better. He is going to have more time and space on the ball and teammates who know he will deliver when they make their run. If teams play him and cheat toward him as much as they have in the past, there will be that much more room for Maxi and Jack to operate.
Well fucking said. When they pressure Pirlo, Ring and Maxi will do damage

Hopefully, not having TMac and Shelton in there to spectate from the kickoff will help, too.

That said, I'm not 100% against Pirlo sitting a lot more than last year. There's really no down-side to it. We need more than 1 way to play; otherwise, we are too easily shut down.

Definitely. Pirlo, Ring, and Herrera should all get about 17-28 starts.

Absolutely. The lengthy travel and the hot humid summer days take a toll on Pirlo. I expect PV to make adjustments to last season and both Villa and Pirlo will be playing fewer minutes -- and be stronger better players as a result.

Plenty of tickets on StubHub for Section 108. Tickets are a little cheaper tonight than they were this morning. I am going to keep waiting a bit.

I really don't like hawking other peoples products, but seatgeek is probably going to be better; it's an aggregator.

I'm resigned to the fact that RJ will start the season at RB till it's obvious we have better options. I do think Wallace will get the start over Tmac at LW. So...

That looks like Kreis' diamond midfield reduced down to a table cut with a bunch of chips surrounding it.

I would go with:

Wallace------Villa-----Harrison
--------Maxi---------Ring--------
-------------Herrera--------------
Mata-Brilliant-Callens-Chanot
------------Johnson--------------

If they are going to play a narrow 4-4-2 diamond then they will mainly play through the middle. Having 3 CBs will be good to counteract this.
I doubt we will do this but i would not start Pirlo as i think with it being away and their style of play, having Herrera will be crucial in stopping their attack.
Also i think we should mainly play down the wings especially the left as them not having a winger will mean that he should have plenty of space. They will congest the centre so this is the best way to go and try to isolate Wallace/Harrison 1vs1 with their fullbacks.
Alternatively start Maxi on the left and Pirlo in midfield.

There is a reason Orlando just signed a new right back. I want to see Mata, Wallace and Maxi attack Toia Sunday if he is on the field. If Toia isn't playing there is a backline who haven't trained or played together and our smart movement and killer passing should shred them.

Game will probably be determined by this...

Pirlo & Ring

Vs.

Nocerino & Johnson

ETA: Thats assuming they start, but I figured Kries would want physical guys in against us. Though I do like Higuita.
