I like it! 
But I would make the call "New York!" and the response "City!"
But I would make the call "New York!" and the response "City!"
I'm trying to work that in my mind and it seems wonky. But then again my suggestion my sound the same to you.

I think it works better because each has two two syllables:
"New-York!"
"Ci-ty!"
"New-York!" "Ci-ty!"

"Se-at-tle" doesn't work for me . . . too many syllables.
We do R-U, R-U, etc. So "NEW! . . . YORK!" could work.
Ahhhh okay. I see what you're saying. That will work too. Also throwing it out there we can do a rendition of we love ya. Instead of the us. We can so "our city" or "this city"

I like NEW - YORK then CI-TY. This way it's also like a snub to the NYRB because the first part begs the question, "which New York?" And the answer is "City"!
