so CCL 2020 is done and those who qualified don’t get to compete in CCL 2021. So NYCFC.
ok, let’s give a CCL slot instead to whoever doesn’t pass out in 90 degree heat and swamp ass humidity in literally a Mickey Mouse tournament.
players wouldn’t even agree to this unless roughly half the teams could go home after a few weeks when the knockout stage begins.
Well there isn't going to be a USOC this year, is there? So there's one spot that opens up.
I really hope they can figure out a way to have some kind of USOC. That tournament hasn’t missed a turn in over a century.

That's the one spot where a non-MLS team could potentially qualify for Concacaf Champions League. There hasn't been a non-MLS winner since 1999 (Rochester Rhinos), but still it's kind of unfair it's taken away from all those clubs.
they have not officially caneclled it though, only MLS saying they wont take part of it ( cant remember if USL pulled out too).
i personally dont want the US open cup spot taken away unless we know for sure its cancelled. This orlando cup should take the supporters shield spot. as we know for sure we wont have a normal supporters shield at all this year, not even full 34 games.

It would honestly be better to hold these events in New York, as crazy as that sounds, than in Florida. Our case counts are substantially down in the northeast.
FC dallas already had a positive case with a player, who knows who else does. ( maybe they dont not even know it either). i dont know if MLS will be as strict as they are in Germany with their testing. if not then i think we gonna have a few cases once this is done.
Again. People reporting positive cases without reporting test levels. This is less than pointless and not worth sharing. Maybe, maybe, testing has leveled off or decreased and this would actually mean something, but for several weeks now idiots have been reporting increased positive cases in various states while ignoring that the testing rate has increased by even more so which meant the positive rate has actually decreased. It's beyond the point when intelligent informed people should keep repeating this misleading info.

Well, today I saw Daniel Royer and his significant other during a walk downtown. Again a nice bit of friendly banter.
This needs to come with context. You guys were WAY ahead of us in testing. It wasn’t until a week ago that you could request a test. They just started testing nursing homes around the clock. They’re conducting multiple tests per week at every single nursing home. My friend works at one and they’re getting asymptomatic positives now. Deaths are down but positive cases are up. I don’t know how many of them are asymptomatic but in her case the entire nursing home staff and residence was tested. Two weeks ago we were strictly testing people who were showing symptoms.

Found the data. So going back even a week they’re testing twice as many people. I’d say it’s likely even more going back two weeks.
I’ve been thinking about the MLS Tournament and the US Open Cup. It seems to me that the right solution is to have the Covid Cup winner run right to the finals of the US Open Cup and play the winner of a separate competition between lower division teams.
That keeps the run of US Open Cups going and makes the Covid Cup worth something.

I think they would have done something like this, but I'm guessing they know USOC is impractical this year and won't be happening. You can't get amateurs and low paid players (many who have day jobs) and expect them to go to a Disney like quarantine. You also can't expect any more than a very small handful of lower league teams to be able to justify the USOC without fans and without the potential ticket sales of hosting MLS teams.
Maybe they can do some type of compressed WC style tournament late in the year, but I don't see it happening.
