If true I've never been more grateful to be part of CFG.
I'm curious about why he hasn't been hired away/looking to lead in 11 years. The first time he decides to break away is under the protection of CFG. A little unnerving given how brutal this media market is. My biggest questions are about how he'll adapt to the pace of life in NYC and what type of personality he brings to the position.

That worry should be much, much less significant for soccer though. As noted many times and in particular with respect to this process with Vieira, our local reporters and publications have no access and give no scrutiny to, and the public at large gives no fucks about, NYCFC. We have about two dozen people (generously) between these boards and reddit who are going to pay attention to the ins and outs of Torrent’s tenure, but even our version of mad online is pretty gosh darn mild. If occasionally the Post runs a story when we lose a big game (or, Lord willing, win one), that’s it—it disappears in a couple of days. My bet is the dude can handle it.

Well Iniesta has literally in the last couple of weeks signed a two-year contract with Vissel Kobe in Japan, so I don't see it happening.
Also, I don't think that anyone has posted this. The club has done a Q&A on Torrent's appointment with Marti Perarnau, who is a biographer of Pep and the closest thing you could get to describing someone as a "journalist of the Barcelona style of play":

After reading that, specifically what he’s done for MCFC’s set pieces, I suspect we’re gonna finally jettison the zonal marking on corner kicks.

NY: What is Domènec like as a man? What do the players think of him?
MP: He’s very similar to Pep. He’s very passionate, hard-working, and detail-oriented. He analyzes a lot of rival games to try to find even the smallest details. This season we have seen Manchester City score goals from the corner and free kicks, in which Domènec has been a key person in identifying the rival team’s moves and how Manchester can take advantage to score goals.

Yes, everyone has their own limits. Well said. I appreciate you providing your input without belittling my feelings of the situation. I do agree that having the CFG connection gave the team an easier path out of the situation (PV leaving), but who was it that put us in that position to begin with? CFG hired a coach out of their system who didn't care enough about this team to stick around until the end of his contract. Sure, that's PV's doing, but it's on CFG too. They made the hire. He was their guy.
Anyway, I'm more upset about the process than I am about the guy (for now, since I don't know too much about him and we'll have to see some results). We're clearly going to be a stepping stone for CFG guys on their way up, which is a bit rough. It's understandable from time to time if it's a perfect fit or the best candidate out of a number of candidates... but they don't even seem to be considering candidates outside of the CFG family, which is just ridiculous. Clearly, CFG knew PV was leaving a while ago... they had time to include other candidates in the search, or could have even had an interim until after the WC (when many many coaches would have become available). But instead, they just hire the next CFG guy.
Not sure how serious you're being, but IF you're being serious, I don't think that's accurate or fair. There are plenty of great coaches out their (and will be a lot more after the WC ends). Not to mention, other independent teams in the league have landed quality coaches. Tata Martino is the best example, obviously. He's only one example, but I think Atlanta is an extremely fair comparison for us... they are an even newer franchise than us, after all.
