Sounds like the FL is planning on the biggest reorganisation it's had since 1958, when it turned its two regional third-tier divisions into the third and a fourth tier which are the current League One and League Two. The three 24-team divisions would be turned into four 20-team leagues. The main reason for the switch appears to be trying to avoid clubs having to do 400-mile round trips on weekdays, which tends to be fairly unfair to the fans who have to cross the country and back and still get up for work again the following morning.

is that really the reason? so are they going to make it be regions ? sorry at work and not able to fully read the article.

I read it and aside from not making the trips on the weekdays the fans still make the trip, just on weekends. So it wouldn't do anything to change travel. Simply reduce fixtures from Premier League clubs to make sure only weekend and holiday games are played. It streamlines the season. Only benefits top tier clubs as championship clubs lose 6 fixtures, 3 of them being home fixtures.

Sorry, didn't see your reply before. Can't see them turning the FL into a regional divide - not least because there is a league below the FL which itself operates nationally, and it makes no sense to have a national league promote teams into a regional division.
