Looking to visit NYC late June/early July. Amongst the things on our "to do" list is the derby on July 3rd.

First time in New York so understandably I have a few questions. The important ones being ....

  • What is my best source for match tickets ? (They appear to be available on Ticketmaster)
  • Where are the best seats ?... (away from the corps, kids and happy clappers)
  • Could you recommend any bars for the best pre-match ale and vibe ?
Getting excited at the prospect already.

Ticketmaster and specifically NYCFC ticket exchange: http://www.nycfc.com/tickets/ticketexchange. You can try stubhub as well. there's a ticket exchange thread on here also. Sections 235-238 are General Admission supporters sections. The bars all within minutes of the stadium are: Yankee Tavern, Yankee Bar & Grill, Dugout, Billys. I'll try to find the thread that had info/details on all of them

Cheers for the help.

Why are there no tickets listed on either site for "General Admission" ? (which I also note is standing) Do I take it that these areas are what we call "pay on the gate" ? .... Cash turnstiles ?

What is the block titled "City Beats" ? Please tell me this isn't a band/drummers. If so, I'll be as far away from that mullarkey as possible. :D

Note sure if this will work or not:

Sections 202-204 are bleachers, with tickets still left in 203 and 204 as of a few minutes ago. There are other bleachers in 235-238 but those are supporters group seats. The rest of the stadium is actual seats.

And yeah, you don't want to be near 118 which is City Beats. I won't tell you it's a band/drummers, but only because you asked nicely. 217 is the away supporters so you might not want to be near there either. There's no cash turnstile sort of thing, you'd need a ticket. If it's not sold out you could possibly get one on the day but I'd think the Red Bulls match would be a sell out, although if they open the upper deck that's a lot of additional seats so it's hard to say.

wasn't there a kippax on Blue Moon that consistently trashed Midas Mulligan ?
Tom, I don't frequent that den of iniquity. I wont tell you what many of us Berts call it.
Tom, I've identified the cancerous cells here, and like a surgeon, I have extracted them from my life.

As for bm (snicker), it's their forum, they can say what they want. It's a fight I'm not interested in continuing. And I certainly wouldn't want to encourage an exchange program for posters. I'll leave it at that.

Kippax seems to be more like our good pal william straiton than the typical BM poster.

Nothing like having the Brits invade for July 4!

Just kidding. Glad you are coming.

I would get tickets quickly, as last year the prices rose, particularly for good seats.

The right section to pick is always open to debate. Because it is a baseball stadium, the field doesn't fit cleanly against the stands. The sideline seats are farther from the pitch. The seats at each end, and especially in the corners, are closer, but you only get a good view on your end. Then, the are the foul poles that can block a view in a couple of sections, although I don't mind it as much. You should go to this link to access the NYCFC Virtual Venue and check out the view from each seat. We also have a section here that does the same job at this link.

Most of the sections are committed to season ticket holders. There are a few seats that the club holds back for group ticket sales and for other reasons and only releases a week or two before each game. However, they have already released these seats for this game. These seats are in Sections 208, 231, and 232A. I think there are all good places to sit - I prefer the corners.

Enjoy, and let us know how it goes.

Lol, a lot of hate here it seems for BM.... I'm looking at going over there sometime soon to catch a match.
My Brother was over in NY the other week but he ain't a footy fan.

I'd also like to get to a NY Rangers (NHL) game @ MSG.

for atmosphere a hockey game is the only thing that comes remotely close to soccer. You'll pay quite a bit more for Rangers tickets than you will for NYCFC

Thanks for the quick response bud... I've always watched NHL since I was a kid, but being in Manchester the ice hockey is poor in comparison. I don't intend to go for the atmosphere - just to watch a decent level of ice hockey live.

As for the MLS - I'll be going for the atmosphere, the beer and so on.

I've seen the prices of NHL games
Suppose I'll sell my City Vs. United ticket in a few weeks to cover the cost of the NHL game (lol)

I would argue college football or college bball is closer to a soccer environment than hockey. If you go to a good college bball program, those games can be a ton of fun.

Yep. One reason I love these NYCFC games so much is they remind me of the SEC football of my youth. Can't find that up here, unfortunately.

OK..... the search begins in earnest..... Flights booked. As are The Stone Roses on the preceeeding Thursday night at MSG.

I'm expecting a lot of the Manc diaspora at both the gig and maybe as a result, the match on Sunday as well.

Unlike the GF, who I am travelling with, I have never been to New York before, so beginning to get giddy already.
