Hearts Of Oak

Currently, we have a location in the Hudson Valley (a microbrewery) for meetings/watch parties, about an hour north of NYC. We also have a location in the Bronx (a microbrewery), multiple options in Queens and one of our members will be opening up a bar in Manhattan. I'd say that's a pretty impressive list, considering we've been public for a couple of weeks. :) We're working on securing a Yankee Stadium pregame location, and have narrowed it down to a couple of options.

Any hints on what brewery? I'm located up in Orange County and my buddies and I are looking for somewhere close to watch the games. All the official pubs are a little far from me.

That all sounds pretty good. Thanks for all the info. I'm going to keep an eye to see what you guys are up to before moving forward. I like the idea of other options other than the third rail, which I'm not against but really feel just isn't for me.

The entrance requirements are what they are. I personally think they are more than a bit silly but whatever, to each their own. But a preference that members avoid other SG events seems ridiculous. Why pressure members to make a choice between any number of groups if they want to be a part of them all? I thought that part is ill-advised. The little digs at Third Rail were probably unnecessary as well.

That FB thread in the new NYCFC Supporters Group was a fustercluck of idiocy. I can't believe Howell banned your folks after he called you out over pointless nonsense. I think you guys had trouble explaining how your rule about participating in other events wasn't as restrictive as he was reading it. To be fair I think it's confusing, but to ban the folks from your group over it was crazy childish and petty.

Agreed. Whether or not you agree with the rule shouldn't impact a decision to end discussion. I was not a fan of his choice. Thank god I won't have any goddamn reason to go on those groups once the TR forums are up.

Can you explain more about what happened? genuinely curious

One of the TR guys basically called out HoO on the NYCFC Supporters Group FB page. Turned into a huge thing with a couple hundred comments of people bashing/defending HoO. Totally bush league for one of the TR guys to call out another SG like that. But then again, HoO sort of needlessly bashed TR, so I guess it was his retaliation.

We want to create the feeling of having a supporter group that is also your football family. We want HoO to be your NYC football brotherhood (or sisterhood, as we do have some incredible ladies in our ranks as well!).

We can't stress it enough. We aren't in it for the big numbers. We think we'll grow bigger as the time comes, but we won't force it. We want people who actually watch/attend the matches, and care about football in our city.

You'll see more about us in the coming days. We're not being intentionally vague, we're just not going to put everything out there. There's something to be said about having a membership that has access to more information than the general public. Having said that, as we launch more images and make more public statements.... we're confident you'll get a feel for what we're about.

We won't just be in Queens. The early meetups were located where they were, simply because we attached ourselves to events being orchestrated by pre-existing groups, and have members that crossover with some of those social groups. It's very early in our existence, and it was the fastest way to get involved.

We'll be holding down a nice chunk of Section 238, so if you get the chance, swing by and grab a beer with us. Or, if you'd like, keep your eyes peeled for the next event!

Thanks for the interest, and for not being snarky! We appreciate it!
