Home - 05/03 Seattle

My grades:

Saunders 6
Not sure if he could have done anything on the breakaways. Seemed steady.

KWS 6
Only dropped due to the cards. Had a really good game, could have been mom. Tough tackler. Great in the air, distribute well. Should pair with Hernandez when he comes back. But we know he won't.

Wingert 5
Nice long balls in distribution but kept martins on, in the first goal.

Facey 6
Better, still has some unexplained mistakes with the ball giving it away. Doesn't seem to be a great crosser.

Brovsky 6
Makes some really nice tackles. Better in attack. Not his best on the left.

Mix 8
Best of our bunch. Plays strong and smart in defense. Great vision on offense. So great to watch him every week.

Grabavoy 5
Throws his hands up every time he doesn't get a pass, does nothing with the ball when he does get it.

Ballouchy 5
I hate that he scored, because that keeps him in the circle of trust. So invisible and backpassy. Credit on the nicely taken goal. Crappy corner kicks.

Shelton 6
Nice game, cannot finish until he proves other wise. No aggression in the box. Works well with villa though. Hope to see him get a chance to play a full game with him.

Alvarez 7
Played really well in the attack. Has vision. Would love to see him take Grabavoys spot.

Mullins 5
Mostly nothing as the lone striker. Good pass on the goal. No one is scared of him.

Subs:
Villa 5
Wasted some attacks with pointless long bombs. Did have a beautiful volley that could have been scored without a nice save.

Poku 7
How can you see this guy play and not start him. Major fail by Kreis keeping him on the bench for grabavoy and ballouchy. Strong on the ball and I do not see the defensive liabilities. Allowed mix to play as a cam. Start him!

Allen 6
Surprised that he held his own. Got forward when needed, and played strong defense. Could be really nice insurance.

Dude, is Brosky your brother? He had multiple atrocious mistakes. He is absolutely the worst goddamn player in MLS. It's not close, unless we count Velasquez.

Ahem....y'all think I'm just spewing bile. I actually do watch shit occasionally, in between beers anyway. But enough to know our defenders our shit and our front can't score.

I don't like the idea of us having possession against Seattle.

I'm pretty sure, along with us playing Mix too deep, one of the major reasons we have so much possession is no one really gives a damn about us having possession. We dont have any players capable of hurting the other team, so why not let all of our slow ass team get into the offensive half before immediately stepping in front of one of our misplaced, ill thought out passes from Brovsky and then breaking like banshees.

The fact that this is Seattle's entire game is scary. If we had even 2-3 defenders who were worth a damn, I'd say we let them have more of the ball. As it is, we're likely screwed either way.

Alvarez should Start. Ballouchy got lucky again and his ego is through the roof. Kreis is too gulible to see it for what is is and he will start Ballouchy forever now. Mullins was a ghost and useless. Grabavoy is terrible and shoudlnt start/or be captain. Poku not starting is a crime. Good to see Villa on but if hes not even going to play a full half then its really hard to judge his performance (same for Poku) Rj Allen seemed composed and a solid defender. Would like to see him start in our back line considering its the worst in the league and anything at this point would be an improvement.

Honestly never been much of a Saunders fan. Would like to see Meara start again.

The ref was terrible. We dominated large parts of the game, just cant finish (looking at you Shelton, but your forgiven due to age)

Honestly this is not the worst. They are arguably the best team in the league and we are missing so many key starters. If we played a full team we could of won and I am optimistic looking forward, especially at that Energy Drink team in Jersey.

The Crowd was easily the 12th 13th and 14th player tonight. I am very worried though that if we continue to lose we also lose fans. We need to improve quick. New York is a fickle place.

Curious as to the attendance.

The sad thing is that our record is due to Fat Frank missing and that he'll show up when our chemistry is better and receive a hero's welcome. Fucking disgusting.

Alvarez at least went forward. A great example of why Jacobsen is poop. We actually went forward when AJ Wasn't in there to stand around and hold his hands up like nothing is going on, when the real problem is he is indecisive and (rightfully) unconfident in his skills.

Exactly. Completely different pace without him.

Alas Alvarez just isnt a "MLS Veteran" so Kreis sees no use for him and will promptly put Jacobson back in as soon as he can...

SMH.

Much better performance going forward, but the defense is still a joke. Martins/Dempsey/Parra were walking through Wingert and KWS. Facey wasn't great either. Brovsky, whatever, he's just a limited player. It's really Kreis who deserves the blame for playing him.

I thought Alvarez looked decent, fell off a bit towards the end, but that's probably to be expected until he gets match-fit. He looked far more useful than Grabavoy or Ballouchy in the first half, hopefully he takes Grabavoy's spot.

The problems in the final third remind me of the Arsenal side that was struggling to break teams down a few years back. Ponderous, not direct enough. We've got to move the ball quicker and give Villa/Mullins etc. space to shoot.

Alvarez actually combines. And he bailed out shitstache many times, too.

To me, Mix was MOTM. He was everywhere in the midfield, and the biggest reason we didn't give up 5. Mix, Poku, Alvarez.

Ballouchy getting a goal is an argument that there is no karmic justice.

Be ready for the posts upon posts about how fucking terrible security has gotten. They were horrible tonight. As for the game I loved what I saw from Alvarez tonight. He's still got skill and he seems willing to do anything. The ref fucking blew and Martins and Dempsey did what other teams couldn't and actually finished their chances

The problem is so much bigger than Brovsky, that it's laughable that you guys even mention him. We have no attack. Sometimes the best defense is a good offense. Shelton is a gifted athlete and some day could be very good. But right now he's a runner, not a soccer player. My 10 year old can finish better than him. Go through the roster...mediocrity. Nobody can pass on this team. No touches.

Also too many sounders fans around me tonight too. Was annoying.

Have to say that Mix and Khiry are the heart of this team. Even after this bad loss, they signed every autograph, took every photo, kissed every baby. As he was by the dugout going back inside my friend said to Mix, "Hey Mix, has anyone told you that you have beautiful eyes?" He replied, "Yeah, a lot." Great dude.

Can we just trade Kreis? We can do a poll here on who should start and sub every game until we find someone that knows what they are doing. I honestly think we'd do a better just running the club at this point...It can't get any worst.

Maaaan, we seriously gotta do something about our defense. Wingert looked particularly toothless, he better pick up some massive grills at the jeweler before he shows up for the next match. And how was Dempsey left unmarked when he scored? I think I saw Mix close by, but that must just have been some NLP product placement for Herbal Essences or something, because that was just mane waving fuss in the area. Jesus Kreis, build a fucking wall around our box!

I was saying "In Kreis We Trust" as Jason was walking in and out of the field. I think that trust is decreasing. Maybe he's not right for the New York system. Bring in Phil Jackson, that guy can coach anyone. Or maybe Sir Alex takes a run at MLS?
