Home game vs Houston being moved to Hartford, CT

Great Way to Dodge the original question Mr B !!!!..........I'm am well aware of just who the other Mr B is the boy was a baby in 2006 or at least in his Native country of Ghana at the time ! I guess your doing a Sean John by deflecting this ball coming straight at you !! Good Job Bro !!

i honestly dont understand what youre saying, i thought i answered you sufficiently. What part am i dodging?

Let's put something in perspective. Tottenham has to play a full season in Wembley where they've only won once in 11 matches. We only have to play one game in Connecticut where we have a perfect record of never losing.

White Hart Lane to Wembley is a 12.3-12.8mile drive depending on how ones navigates.

The only thing i will respond to in this post is the first sentence ! I'v spent the last 25 years of my work life in Manchester . Yes we have great shopping and restaurants and Highway access to all that . Is that what you mean when you bring up Manchester ?? Cause I have no idea what you mean with your first sentence ?? 95% of this forum have no clue about this area of Connecticut . I live in East Hartford 28 years and 3 blocks from the stadium. Darling you have me quite puzzled ??

Good point! All our fears about the team getting too good and then sailing our floating stadium to Manchester have finally come true!!!!! Not the way we expected, but holy crap look how close we are now!!!!!!!!!!!! First Frank, now the whole damn team!!

In Australia, English people have a reputation for complaining. I'm told that in England, Australians have a similar reputation :D

This thread though.

Sure, but acknowledgement and complaining is how shit gets done - if everybody is happy with the status quo, there's no incentive or energy focused to addressed the shortcomings. It's why New Yorkers get so much shit done - we know how to complain about everything.

I don't understand the connection... What are you saying?

I firmly believe that the carrot is more effective than the stick. Sometimes it's not a matter of effort or willingness. I would rather we go to this game en masse with firmly but respectfully framed requests than just spew vitriol on social media.

At risk of opening a can of worms - do New Yorkers actually get that much shit done? Our infrastructure is in a poor state. Our education system is in a poor state. Our healthcare system is in a poor state. And we seem to have much more in the way of money and cheap, willing labor than many other places have to work with.

I don't have deep, close experience with the obstacles and mechanisms or their shortfalls, but in my limited experience with getting things done, it's easier to make progress when people try to find common cause than when they dig their heels in and remain fixated on their positions and so-called entitlements.

It's also Wembley that is a place that draws people in. It hard to compare the Rent to a place like that.

Side note hate that they get to play a full season there, Wembley always felt like a place for big occasions not a regular league Saturday

Lingering questions I have...
- Did the Yankees even consider hosting their game somewhere else like their Spring Training stadium or a Triple A, Double A, Single A stadium?
- Will the field be dimensions to approximate Yankee Stadium or more normal field dimensions?
- Will we wear the primary kit?

yes

Make sure you all add Fuck mother nature. You know, the cause of the problem, while the team tried to find a good solution to a shitty, uncontrollable situation.

I shit on the team plenty, but crying about their solution when it doesn't fit your exact needs, even though they are refunding money, providing buses, etc is hilarious.

i don't know how some of you handle real life when this kind of minor bump in your schedule provokes this much vitriol.
I'm basking in the fact that we managed to find something to agree about.

Why wouldn't they give season ticket holders free tickets in some kind of lottery for the inconvenience? The cost of the tickets is crazy considering how far away it is. I imagine you'd get a lot more support if you have free tickets and a bus ride up there. It's one game how much money will they get from it? 15-20k... tops. If they made it into a fun little drinking trip it would be awesome. You could separate busses from family sections to degenerates and everyone would be happy.

The degenerate family demographic gets the cold shoulder again :(

I don't think the fans that pay for season tickets owe the club a carrot.

Yes, New Yorkers get shit done - what you're referencing are items that are held up by politicians alone and are systemic of a national crisis and not a local one. But if you look at the cumulative amount of the country's economy/business needs, NY leads the way in the following sectors: monetary, marketing, PR (NYCFC could use some), legal, fashion, etc. That's not to say other areas of the country are moot, but there is a massive amount of industry leaders right here and it's the frenetic energy of the city that drives them to figure out better ways of doing things. That "willing labor" is no less important to the get shit done mantra that the ones at the top - something drew both groups to NY and it wasn't simple chance.

Frenetic energy != Complaining.

And whether those items are federal, state or local, I still think there's a lack of willingness or emotional ability to find common cause at the core of these disputes.

I don't think the fans that pay for season tickets owe the club a carrot.
Even the terminology of "owe" here is symptomatic of a transactional mindset.

The way I'm thinking of this is something along the lines of "how do I as a supporter act in this situation to help advance the things I want to see happen (e.g. progress on a stadium plan, a team win, a stronger bond between the club and the supporters, having a great time sharing my love of the club with other fans)?".

I'm not saying it's "correct", but having that kind of mindset opens up possibilities a little more for me than leaning on a somewhat ephemeral and perhaps asymmetrical understanding of value exchange that may only be partially formalized (who owes who what).

I think your first question is kind of funny. They're the most valued professional sports franchise - why would they displace themselves from their own stadium? The spring training stadium is in Tampa, FL. Triple A is in Scranton, PA, Double A in Trenton, NJ and single A in Staten Island. While it would be amusing to see them play there, they have over 30k ticket holders while NYCFC might have 12k at best. Their ticket holders pay much more and refunding them would be a financial burden. Not sure if you were joking.

In any case, this is a positive in highlighting why NYCFC need their own facilities.

The Cardinals played the Pirates on a minor league stadium in Williamsport last week. They made a temporary baseball stadium on an army base this season for a game. It's not out of the question to play an MLB in an non-MLB park.
