Allen Chapman should never referee an NYCFC match again. Soccer needs the ability for managers to protest matches like they have in baseball. Last Friday would be very different with Houston only with 10 guys. Absolute fucking joke.
In addition to the two game ban, he should be banned from the next match vs NYCFC.
Really, any disco ban that wasn’t picked up in the match as a Red should automatically sit the player the next time the two teams play. That way the team being hurt by a lack of officiating can at least benefit a little; right now, the rest of the league only benefits.

Let’s also post this here...the slow motion shows the studs raking his ankle and stomping his foot...Wiebe and Warshaw somehow say “not excessive force” and “clear yellow card”. Yeah, enough force to probably put Herrera out for months. Dolts. Like they can judge force by watching a monitor.

They’re both fcking noobs - studs up contact is always a red card whether the player gets the ball or not. These two seem to think it’s a grey area.
That just makes me more mad about the game. It doesn’t excuse the poor play from the team, or the boneheaded move by PV thinking TMac could replace Herrera...but, how different is the score line if we get to play 75’ on the man advantage?
Well, we had to play a man down for about 75' against Chicago last year because of Allen Fucking Chapman and we won 2-1.
Allen Chapman did look at the video monitor. He still gave a yellow after looking at it. Video Review doesn't fix moronic.
I didn't realize that, I don't remember Unimas ever showing him going to the monitor.
I was there. I saw him go to the monitor. He made the TV box signal then issued the yellow.
Good to see the broadcast didn't even mention it. I swear a public access channel would do a better job than Unimas.
How does that even make sense? You do the TV box if video review changes the call. You can’t use video review to change the call to a yellow unless you are already looking at something else - and there was nothing else going on with that play.
He probably reviewed it to see if it was a red. Once a proper basis for review starts a review, the ref can issue a yellow even though a yellow card decision cannot trigger a review: "While yellow card decisions are NOT reviewable, the head referee can decide to caution any players following a Video Review for goals, penalty kicks, red cards or mistaken identity." https://www.mlssoccer.com/video-review/faq
This is, by the way, different from what thought just about a week ago, and I think I posted bad info in response to Kangaroo Jack. I thought until this incident in Houston, that VAR could lead to a yellow only as a secondary effect if the VAR triggering decision was changed.
That could be. I remain unconvinced that a referee can review for a red and decide to award only a yellow (and yes, I know that's what the MLS language suggests).
