Does anyone know why, when I play FIFA '16 on my iPhone, the announcers are pre-programmed to know the names of 4 of my NYCFC players: Villa, Lampard, Pirlo and Brovsky.

Played for Vancouver in 2011. Same year they were introduced to MLS. EA Sports FIFA team is based in Vancouver. They like having their home team represented.
That's why Vancouver and Seattle have their stadiums in the game. Hometown bias.
Interesting. That might be it. I only play on my iPhone, so I don't know about the game on consoles. The announcers in the iPhone version changed over this year to Arlo White, so I had assumed all the player names were newly recorded.
