I had no idea. What a backstory. I have a feeling he’s going to have a very long career.

Freese not getting called up to the Nats is total horse shit.

if he keeps up with his performance next season and still doesn't get a look, then i'd say it's maybe unfair, especially if steffen is getting a call up. his form is nowhere near what it used to be. but for now, i'm guessing poch wants to work with known factors. maybe freese will get the call up for january camp where they can get a closer look at lesser known quantity players over a longer period.

I love this kid. What are the odds we can keep him for his whole career? I’m going to guess CFG doesn’t rate him as a sell abroad prospect.

he's 26.. if he goes to europe he'll need more shutouts and show he's a bit better distributing with his feet. getting called up to the national team would definitely help as well. as of right now, i would take freese over turner or steffan any day.

Freese is exactly the type of keeper that wins trophies for a MLS club. Let’s hope that it happens here.

Yeah -- a lot of American goalies never go to Europe, and just hold down excellent careers in MLS. Definitely hoping we've found a guy who can stay here for a long time.

A lot never go because they don't have the skills needed to go. I think any professional soccer player who wants to play at the highest level will want to go to europe. I think that is definitely something he is open to doing but he wanted to make a name for himself in MLS first, which I think he is definitely doing. If he keeps up these performances, gets more shutouts, and improves his ball distribution with his feet (e.g., hitting long balls on a dime), he'll get some calls from europe soon enough.

Would love to win a cup while he's with us though and if he plays with us until he retires, i wouldn't be mad either. but he's worked hard and deserves every success that comes to him.
