Mcfc Appreciates Ecs.

It's been good to hear that many fans hear have allegiances to different premier league teams.

I became a Spurs fan a couple of years ago for a variety of reasons, and I think it's very easy to reconcile rooting for a different EPL team while supporting NYCFC.

If this analogy makes sense to you, baseball in America has a system of "minor leagues" (kind of like B-Teams or U-21s) to develop players. However, unlike in Europe, baseball teams put their minor-league affiliates in areas that don't (or can't) support a major league team. Whether that be for financial or population or demographic reasons (franchises in America are strange.)

For example, my family is from the Bronx, New York. My dad was a Yankees fans, and the Yankees played in the Bronx. However, my folks now live in the suburbs, where the Hudson Valley Renegades play. Technically, the Renegades are a more "local" team. They're cheaper tickets, easier to get to, etc. So my folks are fans of the Renegades.

However, the Renegades and their players are not owned and operated by the Yankees, even though they're only an hour away. They're owned by the Tampa Bay Rays from Florida, who are a rival of the Yankees. So the fans of the Renegades and the Rays are not hand-in-hand. I live in Brooklyn now, and I often go to the minor league games for the Brooklyn Cyclones, who are owned by the Mets, who are rivals of the Yankees.

There's no real conflict of interest in these situations, as you root for a team, not their vesting interests. This applies both to teams owning other teams, corporate sponsors, or in my case, rooting for an ice hockey team owned by a complete asshat.

The bastards already want Villa!;)

If MCFC wanted him we'd have already have him, we're part of the same family. I don't know why there's such hate towards City. I know Lampard was a kick in the guts but soon enough he'll be playing for you. I wish all the best to NYCFC and will be supporting them from over here and hopefully I'll make it to a match one day:)

The fact that almost every ***k city supporter sees nothing discongruous with your first two sentences is why we generally cannot stand your supporters on this board.

You're the first NYFC fan who's swore at me, I still wish you all the best for the forthcoming season and hope you do well. Cheers

This has always been a bit of a stumbling block for me to support NYCFC. I started properly following MLS last year from the UK but never really strongly followed a specific team. Hearing about NYCFC peaked my interest immediately but the connection with MCFC always put me off. I'm an avid Liverpool fan and haven't really had the best experience with those from Manchester and found many of their fans to not be a pleasant bunch! Obviously don't want to just go on a rant and I have a few family members who are great MCFC fans. But you can see why it would put someone like me off. Reading through this I can see, for many reasons why a lot of NYCFC fans are following MCFC in the way many expected. I know the teams will be connected, and share a few fans, but I just hope this club doesn't become MCFC Mark II and NYCFC creates its own individual identity and fan base. While there are Man City fans (not all, but it does seem to be assumed by many) who think that all NYCFC fans should automatically pledge support the "mother ship" as they sometimes put it and think NYCFC should exist and operate only as a feeder for the good of Man City, you'll find that a great deal of NYCFC fans support other BPL clubs.

I'm sure in the end the arrangement will result in a net gain of fans for both teams (Man City fans becoming NYCFC supporters and people in NYC getting into Man City)... but personally the whole arrangement has just made me hate Man City more than ever. Between all the nonsense from Manchester and Pellegrini and at least a handful of Man City fans on these boards I'd rate Man City as my most hated BPL club (note, Millwall is not in the running, as their still in a lower tier, lol). Heck, it's so bad that I would actually rather see Chelsea win the league than Man City... Chelsea. My fingers are burning just typing that, lol.

I actually laughed so hard I started tearing up when I saw the Burnley score this past weekend... and prior to all the NYCFC stuff, I would have been pulling for Man City to catch up to Chelsea. Not anymore.

That being said, I encountered plenty of Man City fans at Yankee Stadium Sunday and they were all pleasant as could be, I don't hate all Man City fans, but boy do I hate the club at this point, lol.

Yep .the main anti city fan on here is a plastic dipper who would be right at home over on rawk, the rest on the whole are OK .the one strange thing over here is the gaps people leave to reply to posts,it can be days.

I'd say around 80% of City fans are enthusiastic about NYCFC and I also understand a lot of NYCFC fans support other Premiership clubs but I found some of the hostility to City very peculiar. But fair do's there's some decent people on here. I love the idea of watching football through the summer and consider myself a NYCFC fan. Keen the faith

I would find it strange if you are a football fan if you didn't follow another epl team before nycfc was created, why would you support city as we had nearly 40 years of being shit.
In fact I would find it strange if you had jumped on the bandwagon since we became quite good.
I can get why you hate city but hating the fans that come over and praise your club up I don't get .
Just for the record in English football the most hated clubs are man utd ,too many reasons too list
Last season Liverpool for their absolutely obnoxious behaviour from Feb last year when they won the league
Chelsea for their vile manager and their awful style of play
And city for their wealth
All other teams are just hated if they are your local rivals

Guys, we should really keep this to acknowledging and enjoying appreciation from some city fans who are being open-minded and giving us a shot.

You can give them the piss in the off topic thread with the vise versa title. Yes, that thread predictably has far more posts.

You call it obnoxious behaviour, I call it enjoying a title race and a good season (even if it didn't end well).
They took it to another level last year after city observed the silence last year ,cheering when toure went down injured to bricking the buses with kids on .having shirts printed with champions on in march ,hiring staff for their victory parade.shankley talking to saint Brendon from heaven,it went on and on.it got so bad even the united fans wanted city to win it,the Gerrard song is sung by a lot of teams still.
On a plus note they calmed down this season.luckly Gerrard got injured and they don't have to play him and they have gone on a bit of a run.
