And Perea starts over Maxi.
i like it. containing lucho is important and clogging the midfield should help with that. perea's athleticism is necessary to make sure we get enough runners into the attack too.
And Perea starts over Maxi.
A solid 'do no harm' road performance. Unfortunately, it is the playoffs and a Cushing 1-0 special is useless. As noted above, attacking substitutions were needed sooner.
O'Toole was ovematched today. He was run over by the physicality and could not adapt. Parks was also a step off and seemed more concerned with covering the defense than breaking lines.
If the team starts slowly Saturday, Nick needs to react much more quickly. I would like to see McFarlane (if he isn't injured) and Julian Fernandez. Fernandez isn't a complete player yet, but at least he tried things when he was on the pitch today. The rest of the team seemed afraid to lose.
Agreed on the strategy. In this format, you have to play to win.seemed like nick set us up to try to steal the win instead of going out there to GET the win. we played scared and got hammered, which is to be expected. you can't go play FCC at their stadium and sit back and let them attack you.
i think otoole played decently considering how many minutes he's had this season. the guy has had almost no breaks except for when he was injured. Having risa on his side really hurts too since Risa just isn't a very good CB and for whatever reason, whether it's nick or otherwise, we aren't seeing the passing he was signed for. Get me a natural CB in the off season please.

As to O'Toole, tired or not, he was consistently run over all night. He lost the ball on physical challenges far too often. If he needs a rest, so be it, but A) he needed to adapt to the play style allowed by the referee, or B) he should have been replaced so he can rest for Saturday.
As for Risa, I will respectfully disagree with respect to tonight's game. I thought it was his best game since he returned from the late season injury. He managed his side well on defense and offered more than Martins progressing the ball forward - though admittedly that was "little" being more than "nothing."
#CushingOut. We can post all the paragraphs we want, this is what it all comes down to. He's underperformed with the squad he has. Bet a few of his predecessors wished they had his squad.
Not great, Bob!

He’s had the $23M attackers and had all season to work with them. Clearly they are not what it takes in Cushing’s opinion. We also haven’t seen anything from them that makes me believe they are making adjustments to improve and get playing time. Yeah Lee signed the players, but it’s on the coach to coach them in the way he wants them to play. It seems like both of them failed. One on signing gambles that didn’t pan out and the other on not getting any of those players playing how he wants them to play. Why are all the conversations about Cushing out when Lee's attacking signings are so bad that when Maxi couldn't go Cushing felt more comfortable starting a box to box #8 (Perea) at LW over any of our attackers we paid massive transfer fees for? Then when some of those signings came on the field they had almost no impact. Nothing against Perea or Maxi, I love them both but when 2 of your 5 best attacking options are 37-year-old post-injury Maxi and a traditional #8 after you spent $23M on attackers the problem isn't the coach.
