I hear it, but at the same time I want to see him just attempt it in any capacity, just to see what he's capable of with the right runs.
Weirdly, me and the people around me at the stadium didn't think Parks played well at all. We were hoping for him to come off for Maxi.
Game was boring AF. I don't think Jasson was good offensively, but he did smoke a few defenders with some moves at various points, so I'll give him that. There's flashes of brilliance among a lot of not so great offense. That being said, I liked his defensive work rate a lot. Tracking back, and him+gudi were communicating to attempt to keep their winger at bay. I'd much have liked to see our new firepower, but I understand Deila's "we can rotate so why not" mentality
That sounds right. Neither MLS nor Opta have it, but I think MLS gets its data from Opta. ASA does not publish individual shot info, but it has the same number of total shots for Taty as MLS/Opta do. So for some reason they're not treating it as a shot. I'll just have to watch the first part of the agme at regular speed to find it, probably. Thanks for confirming I'm not hallucinating though.
That does not concern me. We still had to string together 2 very sweet passes to unlock Isi so it was not a total gift, and plays like that are part of the game. They made the turnover, we didn't, and there's some luck in that but we've had mostly bad luck so that's fine. Plus we were heavily rotated, with none of our new offensive talent on the field and even Maxi and Tinnerholm on the bench for 2/3 of the game.
I generally think people are too focused on our offense when it's our defense, and specifically a combination of bad luck and some weak play by Sean Johnson, that is the reason the team has underperformed. On offense, playing 7 of 9 games with zero depth (and honestly playing last night as if that still were the case), only 4 teams have as many or more goals than us. But on defense, 10 teams have given up as few or fewer goals than us even though we have given up the fewest shots and also the fewest xGoals in the entire league. For 80-90% of the field our defense is league best. But we're only 10th best in conceding goals. That's the problem. And if at the end of the day we win because our league best outfield defense gets a turnover that gives us a goal, I see nothing to be concerned about.

Sands had an absolutely gorgeous through ball to Gudi but he was too damn slow and couldn't get on the end of it. Gotta think if that was Malte, it would have resulted in a nice chance. Feel for sure that if it was Matarrita, it would've been connected.

I think the chance you are remembering was Medina's and pretty early in the game, like around the 10th minute
With Jasson starting, just before the game I decided to do some digging on how many yellow cards he's drawn this season. Fbref doesn't have it, so I wasn't sure where else to turn, so I just used the ESPN game play-by-plays to count and noted he had drawn 4 coming into last night.
So glad I decided to look that up last second because he drew three more last night. I need to do some more digging to see if any other site is tracking this to first, confirm my research/counting and then to see where Jasson stacks in the league.
I would imagine he's drawn the most and if not, he's gotta be in the top 5. Then when you consider per 90 minutes played, I imagine he would have to be tops in the league (controlling for a decent sample size of minimum minutes played).

I'm absolutely sure of that. It's funny that he gets fouled so much, because he doesn't have the pace nor the physicality to do much with the ball once he gets through a first challenge, but with his low center of gravity and his quick feet he seems to annoy the hell out of the guys marking him.
its weird to me that they do foul him a lot. since he has not scored and i think has not even gotten an assist so hes not very dangerous, at least not yet.

Yeah, and he does do a decent job of moving the ball in a manner to draw fouls. But he also seems to be some crazy, unnecessary target for some of the fouls he's getting where he really didn't do anything himself to "earn" it. I don't quite get it.
plottwist: jasson uses his multilingual abilities to insult players constantly on the field so they foul him cause they hate him.
I think you've nailed it. The quick feet is my best guess. He is reasonably capable of getting away from pressure; he's just not fast or talented enough to do much once that happens. But it seems to annoy defenders that someone of moderate ability keeps beating them on the first step and forcing them to chase him.
He's also very aggressive on 50-50 balls. He led the team with 17 duels last night. Parks was next with 12. For the season he has the second most duels on the team while playing only 55% of the minutes.
Yeah, I think I remember that one and maybe even one other where you could see the space and the ball laid out in front of an onrushing attacker. Got excited, then saw it was #20 running onto it and realized that the vision and early idea/execution was there, but alas, the end result wasn't going to happen. *sigh*
Maybe it's just the mentality of the soccer player, or they are big fans of Trae Young, but we have too many players who look to draw PKs and fouls, when they should be looking to play through and take advantage of the scoring opportunity. We lose far more scoring opportunities than we gain PKs. KP was a good example last night - he needs to stay on his feet and score from a few yards out, not try to prompt the call. Taty gives up on so many opportunities by begging. Jasson is unique for some of the reasons cited above (I think in the lead is that he plays hard but is then overmatched/overrun.) The others don't have that excuse - they need to be schooled in no autopsy/no foul soccer.
Interesting (to me at least) xG development. Taty had a goal chance last night in minute 84. He was a foot away from goal and open but had to stretch his leg full length to strike a ball almost shoulder high off the outside of his foot. Last night Opta and MLS rated it a 66.7% xG chance. Today it has been downgraded to 27.7%. I don't know the details of the secret sauce but the revised number seems more appropriate given the difficulty of the chance, despite the location and being completely open.

I believe that Taty's diving reputation costs him legitimate foul calls. He needs to publicly announce that he is forsaking diving and not dive for at least 10 games to reestablish credibility.
Was that from the Maxi chip?
I was surprised that Taty was somehow even able to get on the end of that. Incredibly athletic play.
Also, Blue Balls said it on Twitter and I'll echo it here. His development as a target striker has been phenomenal. Yeah, the lack of goals lately is disappointing, but I never thought he had this hold up game. In years prior, instead of assisting ITS on the goal, he cracks a long shot.
I'm excited that he'll now have more talented runners to feed off him once Santi, Thiago, and Talles all get fully integrated.
