MLS - June 28 - Montreal (Away)

moogoo you did the opposite of a Shwafta. This isn't complicated. The shwafta is a Greek tragedy style of sin caused by the evil gods of impatience and hubris.

If we hold this lead we'll move up to second place.
Red Bull is already down 2-0 after 10 minutes lol they're about to be under the playoff line.

The worst version is taunting an opponent directly before a contest is over. We don't see that here because opponents don't hang out here, but it is the apex form of the shwfta.

A shwafta is a "don't count your chickens before they hatch" scenario.

Predicting a loss correctly is in no way a shwafta.

What Lion wrote is close but not really. Had he written "This game is a gimme because Montreal has not won at home and they just sold their best player," that would qualify. Merely noting the facts is just talking about the game.

I need to write a book or something.

Overall this team is mediocre, but it's more Jekyll and Hyde than middle of the road. When we lose it is more often than not unwatchable.
Last night was rough. I laid down on the couch with about eight minutes to go in regulation thinking, "If a miracle happens, I'll get up and watch the replay."

When a miracle didn't come, I turned out the lights and went to bed. Bad, bad sports day yesterday.

(On a positive note, I mowed the entire lawn and cleaned out the gutters during the afternoon, neither of which I'm supposed to do. LOL)

lol. i wasn't aware there was a formal definition. to me, shwafta'ing something simply means saying something that in any way jinxes the result negatively. but now that there is formal definition, i'll be more careful in my usage.

Sooo. I went to watch it late last night on delay and somehow Apple TV switched my settings back to “show results” so I got an instant spoiler (I don’t understand why “show results” is the default setting). And how does it get turned back on? WTF Apple? Clearly these guys don’t have any idea about sports.

Anyway I fast forwarded though a lot of it. We had some chances but they didn’t go in. Nothing new.

On the goal, Ojeda bears most of the responsibility IMHO. He was in no man’s land and his position could only be justified if he had actually stepped up to the rebound off the first shot. But no. Brain cramp. Zero tactical awareness. Pascal takes one night off and Agu shuts off on defense just like Pascal has been trying to fix. So frustrating. Once again we play down to a pretty terrible opponent.

Romero actually did ok. He’s entitled to trust that if he punches a difficult save beyond the 18 someone is going to step up and make sure it doesn’t come straight back at him.

Apple TV resetting settings happens a lot. I never trust it to actually work anymore and just assume it was turned back on. Not sure what the trigger is but it shouldn't happen at all and agree that off should be the default
