MLS - September 20 - Charlotte (YS)

Not to diminish Charlotte, but the 9 game win streak includes only 3 Away games, against Atlanta, Cincinnati, and New England. Two of those teams rank 28 and 29 for Home PPG. Cincinnati is good, but weirdly has a better Away PPG than Home PPG. They're not bad at home, but their 1.73 PPG puts them tied for 11th in the league. That's upper middle-third. It's a solid Away win for Charlotte, but it's all they have. Their other Away wins are Montreal and Toronto. Good teams should win Away games against bad teams and credit to Charlotte for doing so (more than NYC can say mostly). But a Charlotte win today would arguably be their most impressive win of the season.

This is a should win game for NYCFC (2.14 Home PPG).

What a win.

the last 20-25 mins of the first half were pretty nervy with all the defending, but we pulled through and looked to be pretty much in control the 2nd half. subs came on and there didn't seem to be much of a drop in quality, which is always great.

Ojeda looks like an entirely new person. I hope he can keep it up.

If things fall into place over the next few games, we have a chance at the SS and set for a possible run for the cup.

it feels good to be excited about this team again.

This team is giving me big 2017 Sounders vibes when they were middling until making a big summer signing, then went all the way to MLS Cup.

Once again, since NYCFC doesn’t have to play any non playoff teams anymore (well maybe RBNJ)…

NYCFC is the team no one wants to play.

Solid win. We did give them the ball for a while but didn't allow even half chances, outside of the penalty

Outstanding defensive performance. Our man marking was impeccable. Charlotte had two shots on target, one of which was the weak penalty by Zaha. The penalty was simply two players hitting the same spot and an unlucky break that thankfully did not get punished.

I would have liked to see a goal in the run of play, but I prefer getting THREE POINTS.

Pascal is doing wonders.

Zaha is so soft...went do so easily so many times.

Referee really inserted himself into the game. Some soft yellow cards.

We look tired but glad we were able to pull through.

The vibes are good again. Keep them that way.

Philly won tonight, yeah that isn’t happening.

numerically possible if teams above us drop points, but definitely slim chances. but crazier things have happened. i went from not having any faith of any positive outcome this season back in january to hoping things fall into place for some silverware. it feels good to be able to hope for something with this team again and ...

Fun atmosphere.

There were noticeably more kids at the game than normal. I'm confident both were a factor, but I'm sure if it was more the kids day promotion or the start time. But I didn't see any kid specific activities like face painting, and neither did my niece and her husband, who brought their 3 year old to his firs pro sports game (he's been to semi-pro baseball). He had a great time, though I think they left early when he hit his limit.

The Charlotte Away support was intermittently pretty loud.
