That's what's so interesting about VAR in the Premier League. The referee just says what the earpiece tells him to say. If players come up to argue, the referee tells them you're arguing with the wrong person. That being said, it does the referee having complete decision making in the game. Also, it allows for PRO and MLS do their PRO/MLS shit.
Agree with this. Don't really want a central VAR that acts like they do in the EPL. they're having some troubles navigating their more "efficient" system with clear PKs not being called even after VAR. Very strange if you ask me. The main ref on the field needs to make the call. If he can't see it in live play then that's when VAR should step in.
Personally, I think the "clear and obvious" standard needs to be better defined. How you ask? Maybe a time limit at the monitor cause a "clear and obvious" error should be one that doesn't require a few minutes of deliberation. you see something enough times in slow motion you can change your decision one way or another. That's not clear and obvious to me.
