Motm And Postgame - Montreal

League-wide, we are not in last place.

Dumb question: how are we above Colorado? We both have 14 pts but they have a game in hand and a better goal difference than we do

No mention of Poku playing as a Striker?

Wow I didn't even notice that. Thought he was just pushing forward from the midfield.

Poku looked great from that spot, and it might help with his endurance issues. I would not be surprised to see Villa sit against the Cosmos and Poku start up top with Mullins.

During the YES Broadcast you can hear Ian Joy under his breath going "oh" and other expression of players playing great.

Anyone got a link to a kreis post game interview with YES? I was at dugout saw t on tv but obviously did not hear it.

Everyone was awesome, yes still work to be done but today was a good performance and got the win

Just watching match again and I'm also interested to hear more on the Poku fitness issues.
As for match, Montreal were terrible but NYCFC took care of business very impressively. Facey and Allen brilliant at the back, mc namara first half played well. Best game I've seen Villa play. Showed a much better attitude and workrate, led by example which he should be doing every game. Motm Facey, his pace and strength make up for lack of height. Thought he was excellent tonight.
On newcomers, wouldn't knock a few loans from Manchester, they have some great talent in their state of the art academy .

Not up yet from what I see. Mainly just said this is the first time we got a glimpse of what they're trying to accomplish here, and that he's the most happiest for the fans.

Can someone explain why poku has a reputation as being unfit? I've never seen him sucking wind, or hands on knees or cramping up.
I believe it has been Jason Kreis saying that he is not a 90' player just yet. It became pretty clear during his first start that Jason was correct. Poku was less effective and clearly ran out of gas before being subbed out in the 58'.
He has looked incredible coming on late in matches playing against tired opposition, but until he reaches full fitness and can be counted on to be effective for 90', he should not even be considered for a starting position.

#becausekreis

He has 2 assists and a goal already. He is fit. He should start.

And when I say start I mean as a striker or attacking midfielder...you know the positions he plays. Until today Kreis played his as some sort of defensive mid..which he isnt.

Its crazy that anytime Kreis makes good subs (like today) and plays people in the right positions (like today) we see results. So really the biggest thing thats been holding us back has been...ohwell never mind.

Except he did not play so great last week when he started, and was clearly gassed before the end of the first half, but yeah, he is fit.

Fire Kreis, hire Gavin23

Shadap....Grabavoy, Jacobson, and Ballouchy are better? Why is Poku held to a different standard and put under constant scrutiny despite everything he brings to the table. There were far worse players on the pitch last week yet he is put under a microscope in terms of criticism while everyone else is given a free pass. Hes done more this season than Grabavoy..and Grabavoy has played probably more minutes then anyone but Saunders.

Not to mention the one time he starts its as a defensive mid. So out of position. Today he played as a striker and look what he has to show for it...a goal and an assist.

So what is your point? Do you have one?

Essentially...yes. You simply do not start a player who you know with certainty does not have the legs under him. Poku is a better player, but when you know you have to commit an early substitution to him, he is no longer a better choice, especially when he was not nearly as impressive last week playing against fresh legs. If you are a Yankee fan, were you pressing Joe Torre to put Mariano into the starting rotation all those years?
Give him time to get in shape and then we can consider starting him every week, until then, let's enjoy him as a super-sub.
