#MyMcNaMoment - A Tribute to Tommy Mac

Tubby Messi not taking any shit from Timmy Howard as NYCFC blowout Colorado 5-1.

McNamara jumped over Howard after he tried to save a goal. Howard threw McNamara's hairband off the field. Some other stuff happened. The entire stadium booed anytime Howard touched the ball. It was magical.

HAHA That was another one of mine!

I was at the autograph session after the game and asked TMac if Howard had fouled him on that play (which would have been a "PK" and probably a red), and he wasn't playing. Just said he didn't know. He clearly didn't want to extend the story.

My favorite Tommy Mac moment:

My #McNaMoment was our first season at Philly when he scored his first screamer.

He hadn't played all that much and when he did, he looked awkward and slow and my roommate at the time and I were absolutely hating on him. We were incredulous (I'm not completely certain that is the correct use of that word, but I really don't care) when he decided to launch a shot way outside the box and then didn't know how to react when he put it in the upper right corner. We didn't really celebrate the goal, just kind of sat there on our couch in shock.

So glad he's proven me wrong with his play over the last two years.

And another great #McNaMoment was anytime last year he would get the ball, we would yell out "DAD!", because TMac just looks unathletic and just generic "dad-like". We got several weird looks from others in 237 when we would yell that out.

Right there with you on this one. To add to all the context you noted, that was when we hadn't won in 11 matches, were down 1-0 and in the first half Nemec had tackled Villa in the box. Plus, my recollection is that he was playing on the left which was the side I was sitting on in the first half. All throughout the first half, Villa was screaming at him (it was peak season 1 cranky Villa). And then, early in the second half with the team losing again, he absolutely rips one from above the box. Great moment.

Here's the compilation of those screamers we did last year for 45 seconds offseason cheer.

I'm partially sure I called him "Dad-bod" on the 100th episode of BlueCityRadio ....though I was slightly drunk.
