Disappointing finals from Chris. Lost 3-1 on XBOX and didn't look comfortable on the controller, some missed passes, some mistakes kicking the ball into the stands. Had some decent tries that were saved or hit the post.

On PS4 his home console, it just wanted his day and didn't seem as good as he was previously. Scored in the 88' but that would be it and he wouldn't touch the ball again. Loses 3-2 on aggregate.

Apparently the guy that beat him is one of the top players, period. This being his first time making finals he definitely did really good. Was kind of cool watching the games. He qualified for the Berlin finals.

Dude, as much time as I pour into FIFA I keep failing to accept that I'm fundamentally bad at it and only have fun if I'm playing Pro Career on Professional difficulty. I definitely can't play any of the online variants and keep my sanity getting slaughtered by 10-year-olds.

Apparently it was viewed over 30 million times (not sure how many are unique) and 35k watched him lift the trophy.
However much NYCFC is paying him was returned in dividends today alone.

Oops. Shows how much I care about that. In fact I would argue that these don't count any more than would a trophy from some preseason tournament won by our first team. The purpose of the preseason, and academies, is to ready players for real first team competition. Winning a trophy is not even secondary, it is meaningless (though I understand the kids care and that's fine). That our academy has more trophies than first team players is not something to be proud of.
But, I did say this eSports thing was was the first trophy and that was wrong.

2) There is nothing dumber to me than someone watching someone else use a computer to watch make believe computer men reenact a sport.

I have no doubts that the numbers you posted above about interactions with his winning “match” being true. But people need to go outside and interact with one another. There’s a whole world out there in real life you need to meet.

There is nothing dumber to you, but there are a lot of people interested in these video game tournaments. I'm not one of them, but it's a rapidly growing market, and the team was smart to jump into it as quickly as they did.
