NYCFC sign new forward Sean Okoli!

I wonder if he scores more with his feet or his head
From a quick scan of available videos, it looks like he is quick and shifty, shoots well with both feet and can also score with his head. He also idolizes Zlatan, so we have to give him points there.

Was there a doubt that we would announce something significant today? It's a new Monday tradition with the club.

Good signing, almost like a draft pick. Big, fast forward with a goalscoring track record. He has played in front of a few 20k+ crowds in Cinci so hopefully he is ready to step right up to the big leagues and contribute this season!

Thank the freakin' lord (or the giant spaghetti monster if you prefer)! I was jonesing for some news.

Seems like our 2017 Mullins replacement. Some hold up. Some scoring. Very young. Probably a reserve with some significant upside future potential.

ETA: highlight reel -

Seems a bit craftier with his footwork than Mullins but also a bit thinner build.

So many questions:

1) What did we pay in the way of a transfer fee?
2) Did we have to pay New England for his transfer rights since he was last there?
3) Do we have to protect him in the Expansion Draft?

One more item - I wonder how much easier it is to recruit players here than it is for other successful clubs - NJRB, Seattle, etc. You get to play and live in NYC and it's City Football Group. I feel like that REALLY helps us in player recruitment.

Bingo. Mullins replacement. We turned Patrick Mullins into an international spot for Max Chanot and this guy. Not a bad deal.

Also gotta help that players get to play under Vieira and with Pirlo and Villa

He was released by NE so they have no claim to him.

Well, maybe. We may not be paying him much over league minimum salary, on which it would be difficult to live alone (if one wanted to) in most of the "cooler" areas of NYC.

Very true. Assume he makes $100k. He gets a living stipend on top of that. Probably lives here in Westchester County near the training facility

First team training center is a bit north of the city. Not a bad idea to move there.

They get a housing allowance? Makes sense considering that league minimum is not a liveable wage.

Could be a crazy tin-foil hat theory but could it be possible we pick up a guy like this and leave him unprotected in the draft so that the other two teams will pick him up cause we either don't want him/ he's not our guy and we get to potentially keep the rest of our roster? And if he's not chosen we get to keep a nice back up/bench guy around that may not be our first choice but still does a job. I may be a little to cynical with this theory
