NYCFC Training Facility Thread

Guys, it took RBNJ 18 years...EIGHTEEN... to secure their own practice facility in Hanover, NJ. We'll be in ours in Year 4

I got so much butt hurt from RB fans when I tweeted this :tearsofjoy::tearsofjoy::tearsofjoy::tearsofjoy:
They're always going on about 'history' but only wanted to start counting how long it took them to get training facility and stadium from when Red bull took over. History, when it's convenient for them.

Guys you're failing to realize how expensive land is in NY compared to ATL and fucking Utah. I wouldn't want the team to spend an insane amount of money on attaining everyone's idea of beautiful architecture in a practice facility. This is all so absurd to me.
I think when the stadium renderings come out if they're not World Cup stadium quality I might just abandon the team. Not because I care about what it looks like but because I honestly couldn't stomach all the complaining.

it is hard....i just wanted one stop shop for first team and all the academies together in one big major training facility. Rather then go one place for first team, then another place for academy, then another place for FO stuff.....etc.....call me foolish in my dream but it was what i wanted....even if it was upstate in westchester/rockland

To be clear, I'm not overly "upset" about this. If they leave it as is, ultimately I am fine with it. After all it is not for the masses. I'm just saying they could have done more, even within the confines of their limited space. I guess if anything bothers me is the homogenized look CFG is going for.

I have to ask, why did you want one place for all those things?
For me it doesn't matter, so could care less where they anything is with the exception of the stadium, as I won't be going to any of those other places.

i get it....at the end of the day im not working there ( though my ultimate dream i sure as hell would like to be a coach/ soccer analytics guy or something of the like in a pro team, but hey i can dream) nor am i visiting it everyday....just basing it off what i see elsewhere in the world. where you have all the academy teams and first team training there and holding their press conferences etc, i just like the professionalism of it. im sure kids would love that and get better recruits in the system. and also maybe use the facilities for other community events and the like. that way the team can market itself more.

thats really it. no real good reason. But i agree the stadium location is key for everything and the much more important issue in the end.

I don't know, it just seemed like a really easy opportunity for a club that should be a leader in all aspects of this league to make a statement and make people both here and abroad sit up and say "wow" and instead we get something that will make most people go, "...That's it?"

And I struggle to believe that the price difference between Rockland county and greater Atlanta is of any significance to a club ownership as deep pocketed as CFG.

I am hopeful that, like others have said, that maybe this is simply a stop-gap solution for a much grander plan that will take like 5-10 years to make happen down the line....

We're talking big bills here. No stop gap solution.

I hate to differ on this, but I think there is a worthwhile concern here. Architecture doesn't bother me. Commute does.

For the highly paid players coming to NYC, they will likely want to live in NYC or maybe Westchester. Having to cross the Hudson is not a non-factor. Traffic around the Tappan Zee is often horrible.

And for the poorer players, does anyone know what the train commute is to Orangeburg?

I would also suspect that this closes the book on any discussion of Queens or Brooklyn for the stadium.
I would imagine that the team would provide transportation there for the lower paid players. Whether this be via a bus, or literally paying for ubers/black cars, I'm sure the team has considered this.

I believe some of the lower paid players have housing in Tarrytown which is literally on the otherside of the bridge. Some nice areas to live and raise a family in those Hudson River towns in Westchester. Not a bad drive to the training facility and you can take the Metro North down for games.
