41 touches, second lowest on team to T Mac. 62% passing. Invisible on defense despite being in a shell all game. Our midfield was completely overrun all game and we couldn't keep possession. (He was "covering" Felipe on his open header that nearly equalized for the shits.

He sprung Harrison on a perfectly weighted ball that Jack took in stride and delivered a strike to Villa. But with how we played that game, at least what I saw from it, we were in a shell. We absorbed a lot of pressure and that's not his game. Not that I expected him to have a poor game, but I'm not surprised he didnt have a great game. He thrives in the attacking third and we didn't spend too much time there.

Though map aside, he did contribute to both goals scored, with the great sliding pass to TM resulting in the corner kick, and then sending JH downfield for his assist to DV.

The only reason Lampard should sit is if they're worried about his calf on the playing surface. If so, and if Mix is staying, then I'd expect a 1-for-1 swap.

I say you play your best CM, Diskerud, and relegate holiday frank to the bench for late game appearances like they did in Manchester. Mix plays defense and isn't careless with possession.

If he can affect the result in a positive way against a high-press team like the Red Bulls, he will/should be in the lineup against any team, subject to any rest/injury concerns.

As long as he is positively affecting the game and helping us win Frank will be starting and should be starting.
2 goals in 3 games and we haven't lost either game he's started.
I enjoy watching him play, he does the little things that make you appreciate his age and football knowledge that comes with it.

I love Mix but I've been calling him Ballouchy 2.0 recently - he plays a soccer player on tv. I'm not sure if his confidence is shot or if this is who he is.

Lots to discuss, but there is one point of particular note I wanted to bring up. David Villa was fired up as all hell Sunday.

We've all seen him play for us, he's quite animated and passionate. But after the goal he scored, he could not seem to stop kissing the NYCFC crest. I noted at least 3 times he lifted his shirt up for it.

Being in 237, I've noticed that usually David gives a few claps towards the Supporters Section after the game before walking off. He ran over and was extremely fired up after the final whistle. Great to see.

.......but mindless criticism of our team is pretty widespread in the media. There is a theme out there that we are some kind of raging dumpster fire - recent results be damned. A good portion of the national media slavishly adhere to this.

I've been whining about this since the start of last season. It simply goes with the territory we had to endure this nonsense from internet village idiots, but it's mind boggling when you see this garbage from so called professionals who should know better. That's why a clown like Wahl should be kicked squarely in the nuts and I wouldn't click on a link to his work if you paid me.

What do the stats say about Mix? My comment isn't that he doesn't work hard and get a lot of touches - I just think the team lacks purpose when he has been playing because most of his touches don't seem particularly positive.

They say he is strong in possession, passing and defense. Probably should work on his handball goals and passes leading to corners though.

"I don't think it's hit me that we won. I think I've just gotten used to being sad after we leave the stadium."

Saturday's game was the first victory I saw in person this year...I wasn't sure what to do. It was strange not to leave the game angry and/or sad. There was definitely this feeling of: "they won? Really? They won!!!!" About time.

I've been hard on Villa in the past for his childish pouting tantrums, but over the last two months, he's really upped his game and become the bonafide leader on the field. He is tireless and gives everything - it was amazing to see his physical play against one of the biggest goons in the league, and he got the better of him time and again. It also seems like Villa is trusting the other players more (easy to when it's Jack, Lamps, Iraola, and Pirlo) and that's making him a better player too.

Really fun to watch him now!
