I am sure he is expecting a sizable turn out of people against the stadium. (former owners of Iron Triangle, people want more affordable housing, I believe there was a proposal before Citi field open that there were supposed to be 5,500 of housing there, People who just like to complaining, , etc) So he would like people to show up to support it. If the board just hear "we dont want a stadium," the board will go with the path of least resistance. But there are a lot more smarter and well informed people on here than I.
And a lot less competition in terms of things to do in that city.
People say the best thing about Charlotte is the airport.
Charlotte sucks.

It's very strange to me that soccer is getting such traction in the south considering most Southern people I've ever known fall more toward the "Soccer is for insert homophobic slur of your choice variety ."
openers always do well. both teams i think cover the top sections for the majority of the season ( derbys/ playoffs). atlanta was pretty empty in second half of season more due to the results.
that said i dont think nyc has the capacity to reach those numbers, like at all, for MLS.
What if we signed messi instead of miami?
no way he plays in a baseball field. but yes that would boost attendance for sure.
if its chivas/ america yes potentially. but im not too sold. The last couple of times that the mexican national team came to metlife it was not sold out. there were bunch of sections in the top portion of the stadium not filled at all.
Pirlo, Lampard, Villa all played in a baseball field.
So if we had a SSS and signed Neymar or someone like that we couldn’t fill 40k 18 times a year?

true, i just feel messi is just another level of star. plus him and his family just seem to like miami more.
I mean, Miami is closer to spain/argentina in terms of climate, so I get it.
