Stadium Discussion

Good one! Even if the wheel gets built and even if people give a shit (two galactic ifs), how exactly do you improve the access to Staten Island? A tunnel under the harbor?
They break ground on the wheel in a couple months so thats not really an IF. and the improved access is faster larger ferries. Doesn't really help most non city dwellers to get there. There also talking about ferries going from different parts of the city over there.

I didn't realize that they are breaking ground in a couple of months. I guess my pessimism was wrong.

Xanadu.

I live in Staten Island and I agree its a bad idea to build the stadium out here. You might as well consider New Jersey, I enjoy the ferry but it isn't as convenient as the PATH

There isn't any room to put a stadium in the St. George area. The only feasible place on Staten Island would be the site near the Goethals Bridge where NASCAR wanted to build a track all those years ago.

If that were to be the case you would definitely have another Red Bulls situation since that area is pretty much a stones throw away from Harrison.

Sorry for beating a dead horse, but should anything be read into the fact that tweet disappeared from the Third Rails twitter page? Don't mean to be confrontational, but was that particular tweet a solid bit of news or not?

Not that it's even under consideration but if you were to build near Goethals, you might as well save a shit ton of money and build it in Perth Amboy or somewhere in the vicinity. Either way it's a terrible location.

Any board members of Third Rail have any idea what's up with the Third Rail tweet?

I live on Staten Island and don't want to see the stadium here. People will not take it seriously and there's nowhere you could build it near the ferry which would be needed. Access is easier than you think though, in my opinion.

Yea, the Third Rail has really done a bunch of things to turn me off, not the least of which is the unprofessional twitter account.
It's what we've got for now.
I'm sure we can debate for hours on the who/what/where/why/when things went wrong. The way I see it, I'm giving them my unconditional support for the 2015 season. Not like my support really matters, but I'll do what I can to help move them forward. Beyond 2015, who knows. I'm sure other groups will pop up that are closer to my style of support. If not, then I'll just be lone-wolfing it.

Good question. You folks posted that stadium news on Twitter. Is it from a reliable source?
