What was the response to the robocall?
Well the question was around if that was a club viewpoint and Patricof talked it down and pretty much said that was David Villa's viewpoint and he's free to do what he wants on that front. Pretty much a standard answer, wouldn't have expected anything different from Patricof.

In the sports infrastructure Chalk Talk, Jon Stemp threw out a figure of around 40-50 acres to do something like the Etihad Campus, where all facilities would be co-located. He also said that it's basically not gonna happen here in NYC.

However this (https://www.nycedc.com/project/willets-point-development) article suggests that the full Willets Point development would be 62 acres.

A few different possibilities:
  • I shouldn't read into his "not happening" statement. It was a bluff or a throwaway comment.
  • The shape / availability of Willets Point land isn't conducive.
  • It's not Willets - at this point seems unlikely.
  • We already started work on the training center out in Rockland so we don't want to try building an all-inclusive campus anymore.

They're going to want to jam as many revenue-generating developments on that site as possible, I don't see a campus in the cards.

You aren't getting anything done in Willets Point without it supporting affordable housing and that housing being the biggest component.

Does founding member status get us first in line for a rent stabilized apartment with a view into the stadium? I'll sign up for that tomorrow. Pay in full and not complain about a sweatshirt.

Another bullet point option is that even our main supporters among politicians want to use at least part of Willets Point for other uses.
Wow. About 7 people said the same thing in different ways ahead of me and I missed it.

If what I understand to be true about the architect is correct, I think the development strategy is obvious

Here's some preemptive bitching...

If today's vote really is so critical to the success of us building a stadium at Willet's Point, why am I, a fairly in-the-know fan who actively seeks out NYCFC-related news, just hearing about this yesterday. Is there a good reason why there wasn't more organization around this event?

I can see the team not endorsing candidates, but no nudge to the Third Rail to organize and disseminate information? We seem too quiet here.

Can someone give a TLDR about the latest developments? I'm just catching up now.

Nobody has any idea who or what to vote for in today's election. Today everyone in NYC is a low info voter. Even hivemind.

Unless you're in the Willets Point district then NYCFC cannot really have any effect on your voting. If so Moya over Montserrat. And that's speculative as we don't really know if the club is focusing on WP, although it sure seems it at least on the table. No other districts have a clear choice wrt NYCFC. You can vote against the current Mayor, who seems uninterested in helping the team, but he has no meaningful competition so even that's kind of pointless.

Yeah, but what I'm saying is why wasn't there more organized support for Moya on some level? At least show other politicians that there's something in it for them if they support our project.

Come on, you know what I meant. If you think you understand the dev strategy, call it. It's certainly not obvious to me. Obscurantist references are annoying.

I thought I answered your question? Have you checked out their website?

I know political norms have been thrown out the window, but I can't remember a foreign owned sports entity lobbying for a political candidate here in the States before
