Hi friends. Rumors are that there is another group chat session with the president. Maybe an update on stadium?
Rumors meaning I got invited. Hopefully there is an actual update.
I lol'ed at you confirming your own rumor

Consider this independent confirmation. Sessions are scheduled both for next week and the week after.

Nothing significant though. If it was anything major it'd be a public announcement.

Eh. The stuff that has come out of these meetings has made its way to the Internets. The average New Yorker doesn't give two shits about our stadium search

It’s going to be a discussion discussing the discussion of a future discussion discussing the announcement of the motives of the earlier discussion.

I guess if I was invited I'd probably go, but it's probably a waste of a trip. Everyone is going to hear the same talking points that were made for the last two years:

  • We've narrowed our decision to a handful of locations (possibly 2-3)
  • We want to take our time and make sure it's the right spot because it's our one chance at a stadium
  • We have people work on it day and night
  • We hope to have more information to share soon

Whenever they finally announce stadium news, it will not be in a small meeting in their conference room with a handful of fans. It especially will not be made as part of a series of such meetings, because after the first one happens everything becomes public even if people sign NDAs. Someone would leak.

The last time they had these meetings it was damage control for moving the game to Hartford, and probably with an eye forward to the Citi Field game.

This time I'm pretty certain it's just about checking in with fans at the transition from off-season to preseason. It's informal focus group, market research conducted directly by the team president.
