Lmaoooooo

That’s amazing, I know Andy (and probably his sources in government) but this is way too far out to consider anything near a done deal.

So if we're "way too far out" how can developers think they can complete the project by 2022?

Because it doesn’t take too long to build things once everything is settled.

Look at how quick DC’s, Orlando’s and LAFC’s stadiums were built.

I don’t doubt the speed at which they can get it done but this needs to be opened up to other competing bids with a RFP.

Right now it’s extremely likely, politically it brings jobs, development and affordable housing. No politician will give that up.

But… if when the RFP goes up and there’s competing bids from places that would offer more jobs, or more housing then it’s a fight.

Besides if this is done through ESDC the City can’t do a damn thing about it.
I reached out and confirmed. Just to make sure he wasn’t trolling Nick. Sounds legit.

I've learned two things during MLS Stadium searches...

1. Never let it go to a public vote.

2. Never let Bill de Blasio touch it.

The CityPAC is ready and funded to go.

I hope whomever runs this fictitious PAC is more adept than the brainiacs that have fumbled their gov relations to date.

Third time. Today is now the day of stadium news and people not getting the reference.

And on the forum these words appear:
'My name is Stadium Thread, Thread of threads;
Look on my words, ye Mighty, and despair!'
Nothing beside remains. Round the decay
Of that colossal wreck, boundless and bare
The lone and level sands stretch far away.

(Fine, different classical reference, whatevs)

Watchmen?

Take it for what it’s worth but he added that there are 3 other known bidders that are providing affordable housing and that NYCFC is at 50-75% for winning the bid. However if they were the ones that leaked the info it would impact those odds.

Plus thousands of STH's who will mobilize just as we do for MLS fan votes.

Well, it was fun to dream for part of a day.

I don't think our fans are dedicated to go to MLSsoccer.com or clicking a Twitter link for a goal every now and then in all honesty. But when urged through a serious email and letter sent from the front office, and a front office wide coordinated effort to mobilize the supporters of this club, to reach out to local politicians, we will be active.

Maybe not calling and emailing everyday like I would, but something close to that, hopefully. I imagine that the supporter groups will coordinate mobilization efforts too.

If that is true and the front office leaked this, they are coming dangerously close to unnecessarily overplaying their hand.

The front office wouldn't leak it. It would be the front office telling Manchester to tell Abu Dhabi to tell the architects to leak it. Right?

How about offering them a free tour of the training facility if they help out? I bet we can get 80 people in under a minute.

People on twitter started going on about the bricks which game me the excuse and opportunity to point out they never said bricks.
Really, this day cannot get better.

They can’t compete. We’ve been on this for years. I feel like I should get some kind of degree in Stadium Debate for all of this.

I'm not sufficiently well-versed in the real estate finance game to know how valid the Village Voice criticism is. But can we not be the guys who dismiss any critique of the stadium plan just because we want it to happen that badly?

There's a difference between supporting the team and supporting the ownership, and it doesn't mean I want this stadium to come off any less. We all live in this city, and while it deserves a world-class stadium, it also deserves to not get fucked over by yet another multi-billionaire in the process.
