I live in Westchester, and it really isn't that much worse to get to Citi. Yankee Stadium is closer, but it's not like Willets is an hour farther away than YS.

People are going to complain because people complain, and while I'd certainly prefer the location near YS, Willets would be more than fine.

Probably the most reasonable reaction to a Queens stadium from a man of the north on this forum I’ve ever read.

A new stadium is great, but our fan base is dwindling. Soccer is a ghost in this city. I know a shiny new stadium will have the same attraction as the new team did...but attendance shows it's fad-like descend. That being said, I'm losing interest in going to a baseball stadium. So wtf do I know.

I’m from Westchester. Only negative to Citi Field is you have to drive there. I drive to games anyway. Same distance for me.

I’d love the see all the Westchester people bitch and cry if it’s announced.

Just because I love you.
The reason that Mets attendance sucks unless they are in first place is that the new Shea is not easy to get to.
The Bronx is much easier to get to for most of the 15 million people within 50 miles of midtown.

Parking should be better in Willet.

I mean, if you have access to Metro North, and once LIRR to Grand Central is done, not really.

Since I’m a self-professed pedant and asshole, can I point out that “could of” and “could’ve” aren’t the same thing? One is a word (a contraction, but a word), the other is two words that should never be found next to one another in a proper sentence. And I’m 100% sure that’s the case because I thought about it for at least 25 seconds before writing this post.
Love.

I’m not sure why, but this particular grammar error really bugs me.

Could’ve = Could HAVE. Not Could OF.

aww. Love you too.

I’d argue the Mets attendance sucks because they suck. Look how their attendance and record correlate over the years: https://www.baseball-reference.com/teams/NYM/attend.shtml (Citi opened in 2009). Best soccer reference we have is the CLB Match in 2017. It sold out on 2 weeks notice, it was even referenced in the crains article. Which brings up a new pont:

I believe that if NYCFC moves to WP, the fan base wil shift. We may lose a large portion of Northern fans and replace them with fans from Queens and LI.

Won’t be many left to lose, tbf.

Granted traffic can be a bitch, but without it my drive from Rockland is only about 10 minutes longer. The tailgate in the parking lot will make up for it.

The Harlem line to grand central, F to the 7 is tolerable. An hour and a half-ish is doable for weekend matches depending, if you’re enjoying some refreshments, but I feel ya. The drive is pretty damn easy.
