Occam’s razor is that they announce STH renewal kicks off that night. As im catching up on this thread i got the nycfc email. something about a members only meeting on Jul 29? im calling it now. its about the stadium
Looks like Chicago Fire will play games elsewhere, but still use Bridgeview as a training ground.

I look forward to the day NYCFC announce something similar....
Looks like Miami will have two stadiums before we have one. They just received permission to rebuild Lockhart stadium as a temporary home in Ft Lauderdale
Fred Jr. had the honor of doing a player walkout at the Historic Second Home Opener against SKC in March of 2015 (he walked Javiet Calle out -- literally the one starter who most people on this board would have little to no recollection of).
He was 9 years old.
Over the first four seasons, we averaged 13 games each year and are on track for that this year. It's been a big part of our father/son experience.
So it's mildly bittersweet that, even in the most optimistic scenario, he'll be in college by the time a new stadium opens.
Both are members of the Same-match Sub-in/Sub-out Club. I believe the only other member is John Stertzer. You don't really need remember Calle, Mata is essentially just a slightly more talented clone. Both are kings of the grab the back of your leg and limp off sometime early in the first half wasted substitution.
The difference with Stertzer is his wasn't injury related. Both are members of the Same-match Sub-in/Sub-out Club. I believe the only other member is John Stertzer.
So it wasn’t that his Talent Level was permanently injured? The difference with Stertzer is his wasn't injury related.
A stadium announcement will be made at a daytime press conference with politicians.
Every STH renewal has been announced by email and it makes little sense to do it at a very limited attendance event. It is probably counterproductive.
If they have an event for a clothing line they will say so in order to have interested people show up.
They had a City Hall event in February at which little of interest happened.

Barring a flubbed response to a question it would be very surprising if this were any different.
They used to hold 5 similar events every season, one for each borough. That seems to be no longer on offer. This is a reduction. The only thing I find suspicious is that since we had a "City Hall" in February why would we do another so soon?

This will all be done a week before completion. No way they get ahead of the process. The stadium announcement will be publicized as follows:
A concrete leak, followed by an inadvertent link on mancity.com which will be quickly removed, followed by (as MG noted) a press conference with politicians/press/special guests, followed by announcements by NYCFC on social media, followed by a special celebration for the first 30 City Members to respond to an email sent during a weekday morning commute.
Okay. It's time for me to come clean with some things I've been hearing on the Stadium. These come variously from three people at firms that are consulting for NYCFC on different aspects of the project and one person high up at the Club. Two of the three consultants were people I spoke with 3 months ago or so. The other conversations, which provide most of the information, were in the last few weeks.
Clearly, there is a lot of smoke around right now - probably more than any other time since the Club kicked off in 2015. That said, lots of things can kill a deal like this before it is ever announced. Let's hope that doesn't happen.
- The Club believes it is "close" to announcing its planned location for a stadium. In this context "close" means by the end of the year, although I get the sense they are hoping it will be sooner than later.
- It will then take about a year for permits and another 2-3 years for construction.
- The location in mind is "near Yankee Stadium".
- Size was variously reported as 30,000 and 25,000, expandable to 30,000.
- Two different architecture firms have been retained to draw up competing site plans.
- The club has retained a cost consulting firm and has reached out to banks on a preliminary basis to secure debt financing.
- Some of the external consultants believe that the process has been slower than necessary because the Club has to deal with bureaucratic issues out of Abu Dhabi (e.g. time needed to get sign offs and financial commitments, etc.).
- The Club has a set price in mind that it will not exceed for the stadium; separately, I heard a figure of $500 million.
