Unless The Toe knows more, may be just a jumbling or articles and mixing up of names. Two articles listed above with one from a year ago referencing Madd building around the GAL site and farther in the article discussing Related and a soccer stadium in the south Bronx (Harlem Yards or GAL?) - not clear if he partnerships are related from the writing. The Toe’s recent article mentions Madd and the loan. May have been a leap of faith made connecting to Related, or just a simple error of confusing them since farther up in the thread there’s mention of Related and hit on the mind?Am I missing something? What does this article have to do with Related and ESD?
This looks like it’s associated with Maddd Equities and Joy Construction’s affordable housing project that has been in the works for a while.
The older article which mentions Related and the South Bronx proposal also says they submitted plans to ESD. ESD has nothing to do with the GAL site, but everything to do with the HRY site.Unless The Toe knows more, may be just a jumbling or articles and mixing up of names. At any rate, Madd’s Loan probably is for the area adjacent to GAL so that’s most likely in play (whether we’re involved or not).
Like I said, maybe he just jumbled the info. The older article which mentions Related and the South Bronx proposal also says they submitted plans to ESD. ESD has nothing to do with the GAL site, but everything to do with the HRY site.
The recent article mentions loan specifically linked to the River Ave addresses that Maddd has been involved in for quite a long time now.
I assume they will build lots. But if they charge $40 and there is no street parking at night, probably around 125th st.

Looks around 10 minutes? That seems like a walk
You can walk to the Harlem River Yards site from the 125th St. Metro North station pretty easily.
I might have just confused them thinking they were all working in partnership in the Bronx. It could be that Related took the reins in HRY and saw an opportunity with NYCFC there that would be beneficial to them, and CFG ended up saying no, and now is set with Maddd's plan? I don't see why Maddd would go through with this -- being linked to the stadium project in the area for years -- unless I'm completely missing something. But we're still off by 2,000+ affordable apartments from the first article.Unless The Toe knows more, may be just a jumbling or articles and mixing up of names. Eh. Have you been to 125th St at 9:45 PM on a Wednesday?
Thanks for the info! I’m really curious who the second architecture firm is since Vinoly is widely expected to be the first.Okay. It's time for me to come clean with some things I've been hearing on the Stadium. These come variously from three people at firms that are consulting for NYCFC on different aspects of the project and one person high up at the Club. Two of the three consultants were people I spoke with 3 months ago or so. The other conversations, which provide most of the information, were in the last few weeks.
Clearly, there is a lot of smoke around right now - probably more than any other time since the Club kicked off in 2015. That said, lots of things can kill a deal like this before it is ever announced. Let's hope that doesn't happen.
- The Club believes it is "close" to announcing its planned location for a stadium. In this context "close" means by the end of the year, although I get the sense they are hoping it will be sooner than later.
- It will then take about a year for permits and another 2-3 years for construction.
- The location in mind is "near Yankee Stadium".
- Size was variously reported as 30,000 and 25,000, expandable to 30,000.
- Two different architecture firms have been retained to draw up competing site plans.
- The club has retained a cost consulting firm and has reached out to banks on a preliminary basis to secure debt financing.
- Some of the external consultants believe that the process has been slower than necessary because the Club has to deal with bureaucratic issues out of Abu Dhabi (e.g. time needed to get sign offs and financial commitments, etc.).
- The Club has a set price in mind that it will not exceed for the stadium; separately, I heard a figure of $500 million.

"You just have to hang on for another four and a half years, and by the time you've been a season ticket holder for ten years you'll get some sort of early access to a seat at the new stadium!"enough carrot to hold on to the meager STH left.
Never underestimate the inflation of construction costs as a method of washing. Not saying, just mentioning....Wow $500 mil is a huge amount. Obviously NYC is going to inflate the cost to build, but for context:
RBA and Alliaz Field cost $200 mil. Avaya $100 mil. Banc of California $350 mil. Audi Field $400 mil.
Never underestimate the inflation of construction costs as a method of washing. Not saying, just mentioning....
It’ll be obvious if there’s a funeral home and strip club as ground floor tenants.
