if that's the case, that's a real shame and a huge opportunity lost by the club. look at all the other very successful clubs with strong fanbases.. their stadium food/drink prices are fantastic. happy fans = lots of fans = more money = better team.

I am sure Legends can set up pricing and alternatives in whatever manner the Club wants. The issues are going to be (1) quality, (2) service and (3) cost (not price, but the cost to provide the food). Legends quality is generally shit, although there are a couple of decent alternatives behind the third base line on the lower level. The service is even shittier - at least where speed comes into play. Hopefully, the Club can adjust the set up to accommodate the pre-game and halftime rush. Finally, it can't be cheap to produce the food in NYC, where everything is more expensive, especially where unions are involved (and they will be). This could put pressure on their ability to set a lower price.

^going along the lines of promotions - food/drinks at the stadium should be much cheaper than what they are at YS. People don't want to go to the stadium and spend money on sub-par fast food for movie theater prices. Reasonable food prices could drive up ticket sales as well. People would be more willing to take the family out to the game.

our own SSS is an opportunity for the club to do something right and do it well. if they mess this up, well they have no excuses.
i was talking with a guy at work about something similar. He went to a yankee game and was enamored by the legends suite seafood offering (not sure why but okay). I told him NYCFC uses same staff, and he was all abuzz asking me about prices. Seemed like he wanted to go for the food at the cheapest price possible. I don't think he gives a rats ass about watching the game though he did act like 'oh you can eat and catch a game too'... anyway, seemed like crazy logic to try and snag some midweek "all inclusive" seats at best off secondary markets for $100. I know its all you can eat but why? If you don't care about the game you are going to force feed yourself to make back the money. If you don't care about nycfc (or soccer) i figure you split the bill 90/10 food/game. It just don't seem worth it to me. And if you absolutely love the team, still think you can at best split it 50/50. The viewing angle from legends suits B is god awful. Legends A or championship is going to cost an additional 50+ and pitch side is 150-300 more.

So to me it seems like seafood is the most value at legends catering in a price per unit sense. But I am not a seafood guy, I'm a steak guy and my thinking is I could probably eat one steak before im full. Thinking about the price I ballpark a high quality steak to be 50-100 at most legit steakhouses. But that price is also a part of the full service ambiance at a steakhouse. I don't know how i feel about waiting in line to scarf down a plate of steak in 15 minutes between halftime. And if im doing during the game then i am losing the premium of watching the game "up close". Pairing the best seats in the house with "free" legends catering is a white elephant. I wish they had an option to buy just the seats and forgo the food. Like you said the food is overpriced for what it is whether you are paying for a point of sale hotdog or eating in the prepaid suites.

The whole point of this pricing model is to force you overpay for the food if you want the "best" seats. Which is why I am an especially big idiot for having champions seats, which pair a lesser food offering with some of the worst seats in the house.

All this discussion about the food makes me recall an article that rated all the stadiums in the US for food safety. Guess where Yankee stadium ranked?

3rd worst.

I wouldn't touch seafood at ys for fear of getting sick and probably not very fresh seafood and at the crazy prices too. After I read that article I stopped buying food at the stadium. But for those who don't care, I found the best bang for buck was the pulled pork nachos at might Quinn's on the main level.

Mighty Quinn's is the best thing I've found there - I prefer the brisket - but it is going to set you back a small fortune.

Indeed. but out of all the options i've had and seen, it's the best quality and reasonably priced for what you get. Looks like there was a 2nd study in 2018 done by ESPN. The one i saw and referenced in my prior post was by Sports Illustrated in 2017.

Here's the updated 2018 one where YS has improved a few spots to 6th worst!

This was an amazing reminder for me of Pirlo's introduction video where he's standing next to Nicolo looking at the hot dogs with an expression of pure revulsion on his face, or at least the closest thing to it for a man who is famously enigmatic.

I do find it funny that YS has a sushi option. I don't care what stadium it is, or where it ranks on the food safety list, but I think the last place I would want to eat sushi, is at a sports stadium.

I remember that. The king of cool is being romanced in Yankee Stadium, so they pull out all the stops and provide a tray of hot dogs roasting over a sterno can.

For me the biggest issue may be the quality of service. I am not one of those people that always complains about service, I find that annoying generally, but in this case, OMG I have had some of the worst service experiences of my LIFE. Like, being stuck at the counter for 25 minutes while they get my order wrong over and over. After waiting in line for at least that long. After getting there early so as not to miss any of the game, and then missing a big chunk of it. And getting charged a fortune for the privilege. Shit like that makes you want to kill somebody.

^All the more reason when NYCFC build one, it needs to be the best one in the country, hands down and without question. They need to look and visit all the other stadiums to replicate the good and improve the bad, all while putting a NYC twist on it to make it as unique as the city it lives in. If our stadium isn't regarded as THE best stadium in the country for at least soccer, then i'd say the club has failed yet again.

This is where I worry about the yankee portion of the ownership. How much say will they have in the design? I feel like they'll end up screwing us by vetoing designs that, as conservative owners, they don't want. They'll want us to build another concrete monster...
Welp, got the call. I have been given a spot at this Mondays City Hall Event. Who the hell knows if anything will come of it. I’ll report in once through, just looking to enjoy it above anything else.

Hahah I will try my damnedest to not be exactly like this. My ticket rep said she would be emailing me with details, one of her points were that “she was still finalizing if it’s an open Q and A or not.” I’m thinking not and more along the line of the same pre-vetted questions they let some people ask.

100% They are not going to let people get up there and ask / answer questions off the cuff. I would think most fans would just be asking about the stadium.
