No they don't and they never have. I've lived my entire life among Catholic ethnics, and heard every Polish/Irish/Italian/Spanish, and Portugese slur possible over 5+ decades , both good natured and mean spirited, and never ever head anybody call someone a Fredo because he was Italian. You called someone a Fredo because he's weak and pathetic regardless of ethnicity. There never was any taboo or ethnic connotations to that term. Suggestions otherwise are ignorant or dishonest. Chris Cuomo being a dishonest moron, who knows which applies.

Nobody there can provide any evidence that it has ever been used an ethnic slur, or that anyone ever complained it was an ethnic slur before Cuomo/Trump. There is plenty of old evidence it has been used against all sorts of ethnicities in its classic meaning, which is how Trump used it. Just because Trump is an asshole doesn't make every stupid accusation thrown at him by other assholes like Cuomo true.

I think the stadium (if it's built as is being reported) goes next to the metro north tracks, so there shouldn't be major disruption there. Maybe they can do most of the hard work during winter when Yankee Stadium isn't in-season and the station goes mostly unused.

I actually think this is one of the primary sticking points right now.

I get that, but you can't close that station during the summer. So if they need to build close to the station that might be their only option.

Construction while keeping adjacent areas operating requires intricate phasing plans. There’s no way the work will be completed during the winter alone which means either closing the MTA station for a bit, or having a longer construction schedule.

Look at the current LGA roadway project. In the early goings, passengers heading to the airport were caught in LA-style traffic jams. It’s far better now with less and less areas being closed to work on allowing more traffic flow. For the stadium, I wouldn’t be surprised if they close the station for part of the first year, and after the difficult construction phases complete, they open them back up.

I'm Italian-American, lived there for several years, go yearly. Speak it fluently. No Italian except roid rage cuomo thinks it's a slur. It's what you'd call a snake, rat, cheat, disgrace to your family/people. It's not a derogatory term. I laughed when I read your post. Then I was actually insulted that non-Italians claim it to be a damning slur. Now calling an Italian person Cuomo or DeBlasio is the biggest insult of them all!

Slight edit, to add a comparison to RBA. Interesting that even though the capacity is far less the RBA footprint is a good bit larger. I'm guessing that the "bubble" extends much farther out from the stands than I originally thought, so perhaps using RBA as a site measuring device may not have been as useful as I would have liked.

Far from an expert, but it's been my understanding that modern stadiums can't be built within the same footprint of older stadiums due to modern building codes requiring wider aisles, more bathrooms, better egress etc.

Well the Metro North pedestrian bridge drops you right at where the stadium would be. I don't think you could do direct access because it would cause chaos if NYCFC and the Yankees ever played at home on the same day.

Well the Metro North pedestrian bridge drops you right at where the stadium would be. I don't think you could do direct access because it would cause chaos if NYCFC and the Yankees ever played at home on the same day.

It's a little hard to tell. If you go back and look at some of the renderings from the latest Outfield article, it appears that the existing pedestrian overpass lies in between the site for the stadium and one for a housing high rise.

It's worth noting that the current overpass runs between and above the GAL parking lot and the GAL building. Once those are gone and replaced with the stadium and a residential building, there may not be a reason for a pedestrian walkway. Indeed, some of the renderings suggest that area will be an open plaza.

All that said, there may be some logic to having a platformed entrance that connects the station to the stands on that end. It would be a lot easier for fans, but the downsides would include potential backups into the station if the crowd can't enter quickly enough and having a portion of the plaza covered by the platform.

Also not an expert- what you say seems likely to me, but I wonder if we have a safe standing/ wonder wall supporters section that may tighten up that side at least
