How would everyone feel paying double or triple what that are currently paying? That would be the best case scenario. 4 or 5 times the current rate would be what I would expect from their past business practices.

Doubling prices would be a grave mistake. I understand if prices would go up by 15-25%, but doubling prices would be ridiculous.

Also, no way they're going up 4-5 times the current rate. The cheapest tickets now are what, $40? That would mean the cheapest tickets would be $160? That's not happening.

In new New York stadiums, what was the price increase been for teams moving into new stadiums? I know Yankee Stadium and Citi Field jacked up prices. It was also 2009, so economically that wasn’t the best year to decide to increase prices.

The Giants were:

In 2009 in the old stadium $85 to $115 a game. In 2010, they will start at $85 (for the upper level seats above the end zones), increase to $95, $105, $120, $140 and $160, and then make the leap to $400 and $500 each for the 7,085 mezzanine club seats.

The Coach’s Club, with its $700-a-game seats, will feature a restaurant (with free food), bars (the alcohol is not gratis) and TV sets in an area behind the seats. It will also have a glassed-off area where fans will be able to watch reporters grill players and coaches after games.

But the tickets also included the following PSLs: $1,000 each for 26,179 upper-deck seats and rise to $20,000 apiece for 4,162 lower-level field seats. **

Not in the article, but from my personal knowledge:

The Giants were increasing their tickets prices, 5% YOY for a few years prior to the stadium being built. At least in the upper deck.

I know the Jets PSL system is a different their pricing for the seats are differnt well.

Would you pay a PSL fee for NYCFC? I wouldn't.

This is silly. They will not double ticket prices. We've been paying new stadium prices since day 1, which limits where they can go from here. There is no indication of demand that will support a significant price increase other than the fact that we can expect small increases every year until then.

The Jets, whose ticket prices were well below market when they announced the new stadium actually made a big leap the year before the new stadium so the new stadium increase wouldn't look as large. But again, tickets in Giants Stadium were well below market.

Hopefully this team learns from the NFL and MLB teams in the area, and realize not to price out their fans, but I doubt it. Hopeffully they will use the Man City pricing, which is middle of the pack of Manchester City - £ 637.50/per season. https://www.90min.com/posts/6404583...club-s-season-tickets-ahead-of-2019-20-season
Unfortunately, they will probably look at the LAFC pricing. LAFC is just midway through its second season, yet its average ticket price of $49.64 is more than 13% higher than any other MLS team. https://www.latimes.com/sports/soccer/story/2019-07-27/lafc-expensive-mls-tickets-galaxy-soccer.

I understand that there is no stadium debt payments which LAFC and NYCFC will have. Etihad Stadium has been expanded twice, but I am unable the split between on the payment between the CFG and the City of Manchester.
Average pricing is incredibly misleading, especially for a team in a new stadium like LAFC, which (especially in LA) will have a much higher mix of suite/hospitality tickets than other stadiums.

CFG aren’t dummies - they know that in no way they could jack up tickets by say 20% while the team is still in YS - they are having enough trouble keeping season ticket holders as it is.

I fully expect them to put somewhere between 25% - 40% increases in the new stadium. There will actually be demand then as people who are turned off now would come back as it’s in a real stadium and not a baseball field.

No way they also do a PSL type thing - this is unheard of in MLS.

If they jack tix up 25-40% with the new stadium, I’ll walk away immediately. Nothing about the current product suggests that a stadium alone will be the instant magic panacea to turn around the flailing tix numbers justifying the increases. I’d be surprised if most STH’s don’t also expect a sustained level of goodwill from the club towards those that kept the numbers marginally respectable during the YS years.

Goodwill? That’s not the CFG way. The CFG way is a mix of lack of transparency with a dash of arrogance and dickishness.

A comparable here might be when RBNJ moved into Red Bull Arena. I do remember that they held an event for long term ticket holders in person where they came and basically selected their seats after walking around the half-completed arena. (Not that I was a part of this, I think Fishkin wrote about it).

IF, and that’s a big if, I still have my season tickets when a stadium opens, I would expect to be rewarded with little to no change in cost. And I would hope people who dropped would be punished by paying higher prices.

How long prior to stadium opening would you need to be a member to get this benefit? Would have to be prior to announcement I would think..

I know it's not a real benefit but I think it would be a great way to show appreciation for supporter loyalty. Otoh, I'm 100% confident CFG would never give this type of benefit. Ha

I think we learned this season that those who dropped will not be punished at all, if they are willing to come back.

I get that’s what the fan wants, but I don’t think that’s likely at all. Heck, two months ago they were rolling out the red carpet for former founding members who had dropped to get priority over those of us who weren’t here in 2014 but at least have stuck around recently. I fully expect price increases for existing season ticket holders and great deals for newcomers

Spring 2018 maybe makes a little more sense knowing what we know now:

March 30, 2018 - Maddd Equities presents its first GAL site plan to the Department of City Planning, with NYCFC and company on board.
April 17, 2018 - Someone leaks the Harlem River Yards plans to a real estate blog and "YIMBY’s source notes that [NYCFC's HRY real estate partner] is the likely contender to win the RFP for the site."
April 24, 2018 - Patricof calls HRY "not an active site." GAL site planning forges ahead.

Jeez. Has it really been that long since the Harlem River plan was leaked?
