if thats the case then its gonna be rough, both stadiums have big signage all over the stadium and they probably dont want more usage of the field for a practice.

Right. Removing signage is probably off the table. But I don't see why they can't hide them with blue tarp like they do already for some portions of ys. Availability is another issue since it's not our field, that's money to rent the stadium and having the grounds ready for training and then fixed up again for the game.
practice is the night before almost always. so im sure its a pain, will only get harder deeper in tournament with the switches.
I just caught up on the 5-10 most recent pages over the stadium article/RBA announcement and I hope the discontent fades soon as we get on with the season, but FWIW: the content in the NYT article is, although more detailed, consistent with the conversations I had and remarks Brad Sims made at both the Third Rail x Ronny Deila event, and the Kit Launch event. He's known there was going to be news coming out for some weeks now, which is corroborated by Andrew Das comments that the article was being worked on over a period of weeks. This is not last minute: let's get a stadium article out to mitigate the RBA announcement.
For those who have been around the forums for awhile, you will know that I am not an eternal optimist with either the front office or the sporting side. I was one of the first 1000 founding member STH's and first 1000 third rail members, but Lampardgate among other things soured me very quickly, and there have been other moments. But for me personally (not telling anyone else how to feel), I have appreciated the attempts to be more forthcoming and have dialogue with fans. Hope there are more opportunities for that throughout the season, and substantive comments to media (Crooks and others) that clue us in a bit about some of the difficult issues.
Last year, I was pretty unenthused going into the season without a proper replacement for Villa, then the slow start for the first six games, etc. This year, I'm actually looking forward to getting CONCACAF and regular season underway

So sounds like Yankees were the prime reason why we couldn't even begin to get it approved for CCL and then other venues, Sims makes it sounds like concacaf were being nitpicky. Would have been nice if he had given some examples of venues and a few examples of why they were not approved. Just so supporters can understand. I don't think it would have hurt to share that bit of info.
Also sounds like Yankees barely want to open up for our home opener either. Lol. Man we need a home bad. Really hope we can make significant progress on the new stadium deal by the summer. Some really good news of an actual signed deal (not sure if timeline with approvals and such would allow this) would be a nice boost into the end of the season and hopefully playoffs.
Can't blame the club for this one. I'm happy he opened up about it more. This also explains why our home opener is so much later than a lot of other teams. Based on what he said in the article, it really sounds like a frustrating time. They had venues prepared, Concacaf delayed, NYCFC did everything in their power and then concacaf delayed...

I'd hope not. They have a business model, hate it or live it.
Not to spoil it, but he says the team is probably 90% there, and overcame a huge hurdle just recently which gave the heavy hitters the confidence to speak to the press.
I'd rather not, but it goes into the root causes of the issues surrounding the club -- the stadium is affecting a lot about how the team is operating.

I think one if the best ideas that NYCFC can have is opening the stadium with a big name. It's hard AF to draw in new fans at a non-SSS as it is, and Sims likes to talk about how he sees people going to their first game and they say that they'll come back... but if you can open up that stadium with a Villa-level name, you're talking about something special that can reverberate through the City.
Yes, my belief has been that they are waiting to shoot that shot again for the new stadium opening, which I think makes the most sense.
With this in mind, who do you guys see that will be available that is worth it when our stadium opens up?
