I don't know if this has been raised or not, but the dropping of Blitzkrieg Bop may be due to nothing more than the team might have to pay a fee for its usage and they just don't want to be bothered doing it.

There really is no reason to ever play a song that isn't from a Queens born and or based artist. A partial list of such:

• The Ramones
• Nas
• 50 Cent
• KISS
• LL Cool J
• Nicki Minaj
• Run DMC
• Louis Armstrong
• Jennifer Lopez
• Cardi B

Can we not satisfy every interest group with this list?

My 9-YO still sings it. My 18-YO taught himself to play it on the guitar for when we are watching at home.

They have to pay a fee for anything they play. They pay performance rights licenses which are basically flat fees. So El Alfa New York Groove and Blitzkrieg Bop are covered under flat payments to their respective societies. Also it’s based on the venue not the team so these fees are undoubtedly covered by the Mets and the Yankees as part of the rental, which have to pay all the societies to cover walk up music alone.

Ella Fitzgerald, Dizzie Gillespie, Count Basie, Billie Holiday, Fats Waller, and Charlie Mingus all lived in Queens as adults.
