Commentators on Twitter are supporting your position by noting that even "passive" interference with an attempted shot in the form of the attacker catching part of the defender is often given as a foul. I guess this falls into the category where I get grumpy that fouls get called on players who have no agency in the fouling action.it was a foul
There was zero marking on that play and the defenders weren’t even playing the trap.... USA got lucky and it was so razor thin I wouldn’t have argued if it was allowed to stand. We’d be livid if that call went against us
I agree. She clipped her leg, and that's the whole reason the English striker missed. And I think it was probably intentional.it was a foul

Really? All of the many replays looked to me like Sauerbrunn's leg was going to come down in stride where it did regardless of whether there was an attacker's leg there or not.And I think it was probably intentional.
It’s hard to know for sure. I think it’s possible she felt her only play was to give the attacker a little nudge from behind and knock her off. It was subtle and smart and she almost got away with it.Really? I actually think Sauerbrunn unsuccessfully attempted to avoid contact as White crossed from R to L in front of her.Really? All of the many replays looked to me like Sauerbrunn's leg was going to come down in stride where it did regardless of whether there was an attacker's leg there or not.

Hell, even the keeper stayed on her line rather than charge out.... so many mistakes.
I assume the Offsides on England that called back the Goal. If you were talking about another play, my apologies.Do you know what call I was talking about?
