Burley fumes at 'pathetic' venue choice for USMNT vs. Honduras - ESPN Video
Craig Burley lets rip on the USMNT for hosting a crucial World Cup Qualifier in freezing Minnesota.

I mean...apart from the whole tirade about the US being a small minded team etc.(which is bluster on his part, because that's his role on that show) he does make a sensible point that we should be fielding the best team on the best field as possible.Get a grip people.
And screw Burley. Just because his country invented the word "soccer" he thinks he gets to define the right way to host games.

This whole debate is moot if the US comes out with 3 points tonight, but I don't see how this venue and climate benefits the US or plays to their strengths.
the guy may have gotten enough results to keep from getting fired up to this point, but can anyone really say he's been a good coach?
I've heard similar reports
There is apparently some sort of pay dispute between the players and the federation. 3 more points for Canada.
If we beat Panama at home in the next cycle, we're in. There are other ways to qualify, but if we beat Panama nothing else needs to matter.
If we beat Panama and do nothing else, we have 24 points, and the most points Panama can finish with would be 23.
Current
Canada 25 +14
USA 21 +9
Mexico 18 +5
Panama 17 +2
Remaining Games
CAN CR A, JAM H, PAN A
USA MEX A, PAN H, CR A
MEX USA H, HON A, SLV H
PAN HON H, USA A, CAN H
Panama is almost certain to beat Honduras, so even if the US grabs a win in Mexico, Panama will stay 4 back. That would let us qualify with a draw against Panama. Mexico would be 6 back, but with easy games to finish.
I would not assume Canada will relax in the last game. There's a good chance they have an opportunity to go undefeated, and while it matters almost not at all, I think they'd want to achieve it.
Beat Panama, at home, go to the World Cup. The US has 5 W and 1 D at home.
Apparently ESPN hadn’t updated the table when I looked even though they had the Mexico score up.Mexico won last night -- they sit on 21 pts and +6.
Costa Rica can finish on 25 points. I believe your example guarantees us at least top 4, until Costa Rica drops a point. If we beat Panama at home in the next cycle, we're in. There are other ways to qualify, but if we beat Panama nothing else needs to matter.

ESPN has been very slow on updating those tables.Apparently ESPN hadn’t updated the table when I looked even though they had the Mexico score up.
Oof. Multiple mistakes. CR plays:Costa Rica can finish on 25 points. I believe your example guarantees us at least top 4, until Costa Rica drops a point.
I cannot find a good site to rely on for these. ESPN also isn't showing the full score history. CONCACAF itself has a mess of a website. I've checked a few others and it seems everyone is missing something or has slow updates.ESPN has been very slow on updating those tables.
Oddly, wikipedia is always the best at this. If I want to look something up WCQ related, I just go to wikipedia.I cannot find a good site to rely on for these. Livescore app. Sofascore app. Fotmob app. They all do an excellent job of telling you not only which games are on a given day, but also scorekeeping stats, etc.Oof. Multiple mistakes. CR plays:
CAN H, SLV A, USA H
So let's hope Canada gets at least a draw. If they do, CR has a max of 23 and we still qualify at 24 with a win over Panama.
