Looks like Ruppert is going to be a no-go this season FFS and 161st garage was a disaster post game to get to 87 North to Westchester. Any suggestions on easy access to the Deegan north after the game? Parking pass is not worth the pain of the traffic and added commute.

Why is Ruppert Plaza Garage a no-go?

161st is the best one for 87-North, unfortunately. It's usually not too bad getting out. Maybe chalk it up to first game and they weren't fully staffed?

Is there an exit other than the main entrance? All traffic went towards Macomb which I thought only allows you to get 87 South. Maybe I just f’d it up because I am so used to Ruppert for the last 11 years.

Yes there is -- you have to go to the basement. Sometimes they give you a hassle about that in NYCFC games but usually you can drive around to the basement and exit there. Exit the lot, you make a left and 87-north is up ahead to your left at the next light.

Yes. This is what we do every time.

When you park, go down one level from the main entrance. Park near the ramp that goes down one additional level. Then, it’s an easy trip to go down one more level and exit. Take that left, and it’s a short trip to the 87-N.

This is very helpful.

Used this little trick in the 161st lot tonight. Got in my car at 9:50 and was clear on the highway at 9:58. It's slower on packed nights, but for most NYCFC games at Yankee Stadium you're out clean and easy.

Sadly, for those of us coming and going to parts south yesterday was terrible.
The only garages that offer decent on/off experiences in that direction are Ruppert via the 157th street entrance and the 153rd street garage. They're effectively on the same street despite different street names and coming to the game both are accessed via exit 5 where you make the first right turn off the ramp.

Although the Deegan was flowing smoothly the line to the 153rd street garage backed up all the way to the top of the Exit 5 off ramp. It was very odd because when I was a quarter-mile away my nav map said I was still 8 minutes away which seemed impossible but it was right. In fact I think it would have taken longer. Instead I bailed to the left lane and went up and around to Jerome and the bridge level entrance to 161st street.

It's very disconcerting because last night was not a heavy crowd. I don't know what I'll do the rest of the season. The thought of dealing with parking for Miami next week saddens and scares me.

Haven't read too much but I tend to like the Bronx terminal market. You're usually out right away and there's a ramp to the southbound deegan entrance. It's a bit further of a walk though.

Edit to add:

You only get out towards the faster south deegan ramp if you leave through a specific exit, otherwise you get funneled to the road north of it and have to go to the 153rd st ramp which is a nightmare

Thanks.
Looks like I need to leave on Exterior Street instead of River Avenue? I might try it. My usual offsite go-to is only slightly closer but has worse Deegan access. It's the Concourse Plaza shopping mall on 161st. It's primary upside is being away from all the stadium traffic, especially going home.

I had to give a buddy his late Christmas gift of a bottle of rye before the first game. His usual parking garage was closed, so I went to the only parking garage that I saw, which was the one on River Ave and E. 157th. While trying to find him (he was at another garage), I stumbled upon the following. There was also some chop shop shit going on, so I knew I needed to get the fuck outta there pronto.

Red is on the way in from deegan south. You have to do a slight left to go under the deegan which is where the entrance is.

On the way out you just need to make sure you're going out west, not easy as that takes you to river Ave. From there it's really easy to get to the deegan and I've never had trouble. Not sure what their pricing is anymore
